Sitting Duck

Wow, long day :) But good day. Really good day. I got up around 9am. Or was it 10am. Maybe it was 9:30am. hehe. And got ready for the day. We were driving an hour west to meet Laurie and her kids at a park! SO excited! During the summer, they'd moved to California for her hubby to go to graduate school. I miss her!

Anyway, I put on a fresh layer of make up, and fixed up my hair, and picked out an outfit. And got the kids ready. And made sure that everyone had electronics for the trip. Cause the 2 hours in the truck could be a long drive. hehe. For me, not necessarily for them. Ha!

Jake and Justin (Kari's oldest) decided that they didn't wanna go, and that they wanted to stay home and play X-Box. And that left me with 3 extra seats in my truck. And, Kari and Leo and Josephine would fit PERFECTLY in my truck! Perfect!

I left a little early, and went and got 4 "candy bars" worth of gas for my truck. But the Shoppette was out of candy bars. Crap. I told the kids to save their reciepts and we'd try the 24 hours Shoppette later. ha!

We headed to Kari's house, and picked up her and the kids. Tom wasn't so happy that the truck was full, but I was sure happy to have a riding companion for the drive! And it made the trip go faster with another adult! Score!

We followed the phone directions to the park in Las Cruces, and met Laurie and her 2 youngest kids at the park. Elise and Phearson didn't wanna come. Laurie's sister was there too, and 2 of her kids. We all had a great time visiting and the kids had fun playing. There was even snow on the ground still, so the kids had the added bonus of having snow to throw around. And the sun was out and shining, so we got some nice rays to boot! Perfect day for a park trip!

The kids were starving, so Laruie's sister, Shelly (I think that's her name), and I, went to Little Cesears (I can never figure out how to spell that right...) and I got 4 pizzas for everyone to share. Then headed back real fast. And wow, that pizza was gone fast. hehe. I think our kids inhaled it - lol!

We visited for about 2 or 3 hours, and had the best of time. Some friends, it doesn't matter how much time has passed, when you see each other, you pick up where you left off. It's as if no time has passed. Laurie is one of those friends. We talked about what we've each been doing, about our families, our kids, school, school, life, this, that, and the other thing. It was really great to chat and catch up.

I made sure that we got a few pictures before we parted ways. Aren't the kids cute! It was a struggle, but I managed to get them all in there :)

Laurie's Kaytia, My Eme, and Shelly's girl. I didn't catch her name.

Me and Laurie and Kari :)

On the way home, Kari and I put it up to the kids to vote on which Dollar Movie we'd see that evening. Between Real Steel, Puss and Boots, and A Dolphin's Tail. The vote was 1 Dolphins Tail, 2 Puss and Boots, and 4 Real Steel. Joe was mad. He'd got in a fight with Leo, and was SO angry. Poor Leo. I felt sorry for the kid.

Anyway, Josephine was very upset that her movie didn't "win', and cried for quite some time. It was a very noisy ride home. LOL. Finally, we found the trick to keeping the kids quiet. Music videos on my phone. They were SO intent on watching it. Oh yeah. It was SO good! hehe :) I dropped Leo and Josephine and Kari off at their house, and we went home, got our movies stuff, and headed out again.

Kari got there a few minutes before us, and ended up getting the last of the tickets... Hmpf. We decided to let Jake and Justin and Leo go into the earlier show, and the rest of us wait for the later show. Try keeping kids entertained in a movie theater lobby for an hour. ha! It was a good time.

Eventually, we got our popcorn and hot dogs, and were seated for the movie. We watched the previews, and the kids ate their snacks. And soon the movie started. I wasn't expecting much. Tom has seen it with the Youth Center. And had really enjoyed it. Robot Boxing, or something like that. And it had Hugh Jackman, who is a hottie. Other than that, I knew nothing.

But you know what? It was one of my most FAVORITE movies this year!!! I cried in one place, I was cheering in another. I was so well done! Seriously, if you haven't seen it, add it to your list of movies to see! It was SO good :)

After the movie, we gathered up the kids, and headed home. It was around 9pm when we finally got home. I confiscated all of the electronics in the house, and sent the kids to bed. In the morning, I told the kids that it was "clean the house" day. Cause it's gotten pretty bad again... Hopefully it'll be a quick fix. It usually is :) Especially if all of the electronics are locked away safely in my room, right? hehe :) Wish me luck. We have a therapy appointment for Jake tomorrow, but I think that's our only appointment.... Cleaning should be able to get top priority :)
