Food Police

First off, a VERY happy birthday to my only daughter, Emeline Melissa Harty, who is turning 9 years old today! October 14, 2001 she was born in Coos Bay, Oregon! Love you BUNCHES, Emeline, and hope your day is SUPER FANTASTIC!

AND, thanks to everyone who let me know that FRINGE has NOT been canceled. Woohoo! Don't know where I heard that vicious rumor... Now I have something else to start watching again. Yippee!

Good morning, computer land :) Hope everyone slept well last night. Had I not tried to hydrate myself quite so well yesterday, I would have slept better. hehe. But then, sleeping TOO soundly when overly hydrated isn't a good thing either.... Wetting the bed wouldn't have been a good thing, me thinks..

Anyway, I woke up with my alarm, and re-set it for 6:55am. Cause I was tired. I woke up then, read scriptures, prayed, and went out to get kids ready. And mostly laid on the couch with a blanket while they got ready. hehe. And sent them off to the bus, and went back to sleep. And felt SO much better when I woke up - ha!

I chatted with my mom for about an hour on the phone, then finally got out of bed. Good thing I'd eaten breakfast when I got the kids off to school, otherwise I'd have been STARVING. hehe.

Jake and Jim and I got ready and headed out to Walmart. The one on Transmountain, because it still has a fabric section. Did your Walmart lose it's fabric section? I know a lot of them have.

And my truck acted like it didn't wanna start. Like the battery was dead because someone had left a light on or something. Only I didn't see a light left on. Strange. Oh well, driving across town would charge my battery, I figured.

Jake used his babysitting money to buy a DVD player, and I got some iron on interfacing. For this silly flag I'm making for Captain America. Which needs a lot more explaination. But we'll get to that later. I got my interfacing in the fabric section, and went to the DVD section with Jake. And yeah, the display models were NOT the same as what they had boxes for. What's up with that? That makes no sense at all... Strange...

Anyway, he picked out the one he wanted, and we went and looked at toys (for Jim), and then halloween crap, then candy, then we paid. And yeah, I don't know why Jimmy thinks he needs something every time we set foot in the store. But he didn't get anything this time. Take that, Jim! hehe. My mean streak is coming out, I think...

Here's a pic of Jim and Jake right before they were asked to get off the shelves. ROFL!

OK, so we paid and came home (the truck BARELY started, but it DID start - maybe it's NOT the battery after all... hmmmmm....), and dropped Jiimmy off at school first, THEN came home, and Jake did school, and I made a flag. More accurately, a Guide On. At least, that's what Captain Americacalled it. See, there doing these "Tests" with their Patriot Missiles, to see if their crews know how to man them. Or something like that. And they don't really shoot anything, because each missile is worth over a Million Dollars. So they just do practice exercises.

Anyway, there's this time when one of the machines puts out radiation. And they can't walk around it, cause they might go sterile. Yeah, that makes me really happy that I already have all the kids I'm getting. And I guess in practice it doesn't REALLY put out radiation.

Anyway, he and his guys thought it would be funny to make a "No Sperm" guide on flag. Cause the flags all mean something. And this one is similar to a real guide on flag they use, with the added "sperm". So Captain America asked if I could make up a guide on for them. Sigh. Anything for you, honey :)

Which is why I wanted the interfacing, to iron the yellow onto the red flag. And yeah, I bought the wrong stuff. What I bought was backing. It was only sticky on one side. So I had a WHOLE lot more work than I needed, but it worked out ok in the end. What do you think? I know my friend Joy, who has twins, said she needs one of these to hang in her bedroom! ROFL!

It's the same on both sides.

So then, because apparently I'm a very domestic wife these days, I decided to make cookies for his battery. Again. Which was ok, because I had a new recipe to try out, and I still find the cookie press entertaining. ROFL!

Here's the recipe I got.
And, of course, I doubled it, because I wanted to prolong the cookie making enjoyment as long as I possibly could. hehehe. Still, cream cheese, butter, AND chocolate? Yeah, looked SUPER tasty to me.

I filled the cookie press, made flower cookies, and put a dab of red raspberry preserves in the center of each one.

And baked and baked and baked and baked. I think it made between 8 and 10 dozen. Dang. That's a TON of cookies.

Oh yeah, I'm hot...
And that took most of the day. By the time the last batch of cookies came out of the oven, Jimmy was home from Preschool, Joe was home from school, AND Tom and Eme were home from AQ.

And then I took a nap. Because I could feel a headache coming on. I think I did too much. hehe. And after about 30 minutes, I came out, and made dinner. And put it in the oven for 30 minutes, and laid back down. And after that, I was feeling a bit better.

Leslie's kids came over to play and eat with us, and I grabbed my old laptop and retreated to my room to pre-blog. And here it is, 6:25pm. And I need to get ready to take the kids to scouts. IF my truck will start. And then the little ones and I are running the cookies, some apples, the 'no sperm" flag, some ice, a lighter, and, um, er, crap, one other thing.... out to Captain America in the field.

And I'm back :) Did you miss me? It's now 9:04pm, and I'm DONE for the night. I'm just gonna go out and watch an episode of "Lie to Me" on my big TV, with my pillow and a blanket, and do NOTHING else for the rest of the evening :) Cause I'm tired.

At 6:30pm, I had the kids start getting ready for scouts. And I loaded up all the stuff Captain America needed. And we loaded into the truck, and off we went. And yeah, that other thing was camp chairs, and I did remember it before we left. Thank goodness. hehe.

We drove over to Scouts, off of Railroad and Hondo Pass. It's a block or so down Hondo Pass. And dropped off the 4 older boys. And what really sucks, is that Tobin Wells road parallels Railroad. I can see it on the other side of the tracks. But yeah, there's no way to get there. Hondo Pass goes one way, and Captain America is the other way. But on the other side of the tracks. Hmpf! So I had to drive a mile or two down Railroad until there was a spot to cross the tracks, THEN back to Captain Americas turn off. Which happened to be DIRECTLY across from Hondo Pass.....

It was nice seeing Captain America for a few minutes. We gave him all of his stuff, and delivered the cookies to all of the guys. And the funny flag. They seemed to really get a kick out of the flag. ha! Silly boys :) And after visiting for a bit, we headed back to Scouts. I was afraid to turn my engine off, for fear of it not starting up again. It ALMOST didn't start when we went to scouts. So I didn't turn it off. At all. ha!

We drove back around to Scouts, and sat in the truck for 20 minutes until the kids got out. Joe finished up his homework, and Eme made my wreath. Remember that fabric one she'd made last week or so? Yeah, she made mine too. I bought a rotary cutter today at Walmart (I already had the mat, so it wasn't too bad) to cut out the strips of fabric. OMHeavens, why didn't I buy that before. Saved me a TON of time and energy :)

Anyway, she completed that for me. Then we picked up the boys, and home we came. And I got Jimmy to bed, and Jake put Joe and Eme to bed, and then the big kids went to bed. And here I am. Tired. But happy :) It was a good day!

Tomorrow, I'm going to a Mexican Marketplace with Leslie and Laurie. I'm pretty excited about it. I've lived here almost 2 years and haven't been yet :) Wish me luck!

Oh yeah, here's a pic of Captain America and I went I went to visit him in the field. Aren't we cute :)

So, this WordArt is in honor of my boss, Maya, who posted a Facebook comment on my "i'm making cookies" status update about a Facebook Food Post violation, about making dieting people hungry. ROFL! I thought it was HILARIOUS, and decided to do a Food Police wordart about it :) Cause my kids sometimes call me the "food police".... And I'm sure I have a picture of Jimmy stealing some food or snacks or cookies or something from the kitchen that he's not supposed to have, that I can scrap a page about. With a guilty face and all, you know...

Eternally Missed

Howdy, girls :) How was your day? I hope it was super fantastic! hehe :)

I'm gonna need to start going to bed earlier, because I woke up tired, again. Sigh. Captain America was up until 2 something packing and working and getting all ready for the field. And I kinda slept through it, but when there's a light on somewhere, I don't sleep too soundly. Then he was up and off to PT at some ridiculously early time.

I finally rolled out of bed at 6:55am, read scripture, said prayers, and off to get kids ready I went. At least I had food in the house. hehe. And even left over French Toast from the night before, so they had a better than cereal breakfast. ROFL!

I got the kids out the door at 7:30am, and went back to bed. See, this is the time that I'm supposed to be exercising. But yeah, I got back to bed instead. Sigh. I'll get it figured out one of these days! hehe.

Captain America came home at 8:15am, and I woke up to hang with him. He finished packing for the field, and got all the last minute things together, showered, got in his uniform, and he took the truck and off he went. Hmpf! *pouts*...

I hopped in the shower and got ready for the day. It was a mostly straight hair day :) ha!

And then I decided to make homemade pizza. Because I was going to Lauries at lunch for a potluck, and thought it would be a good thing to bring. And I made 3. 1 for the lunch and 2 for the fridge for dinner. See, thinking ahead, I am. ha! I sound like Yoda....

Anyway, I just LOVE my pizza crust recipe. You want it too?

1 package of fast rise yeast
1 cup water (very warm)
1 tbsp sugar

disolve the yeast and sugar into the water, about 10 minutes. It'll be nice and bubbly.

Next, stir in
2-1/2 cups of flour
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp salt
2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
2 tsp italian spices (optional)

Mix that all together, and kneed for a few minutes, then let rest, covered, in a warm place, until raises. It doesn't quite double, but it will raise a little.

Then roll out the dough on a greased, and corn mealed pizza pan, top with spaghetti sauce, toppings, and grated cheese, back at 450 degrees for about 15 minutes or until done, and voila! You have a PERFECT pizza!

This one has sauce, parmesan cheese, yellow squash, onions, green peppers, and turkey sausage. Too bad I don't eat pizza, or I'd TOTALLY have had a slice. hehe :)

And, what did I do while it baked, you ask? Well, I serinated Jake with my rendition of my new favorite Muse song, Eternally Missed. I found this video HERE on youtube. It's not an official video, but you can hear the song. I really like it :)

Anyway, here's me signing into my spices (what, don't you do that???) as Jake snapped a few songs of me. ha!

Um, yeah, so now you all know JUST how cool I really am.... hehe. Anyway, Jim was on the bus and already to school by this point, so once the pizza was cooked, I sliced it, gave Jake a piece, and headed over to Lauries house, picking up Leslie on my way. I had a therapy appointment at 1pm, and she had an appointment at 1pm, so we were both just coming for 30 minutes to chat. Works for me :)

It was a going away luncheon for that chickie in the blue shirt. Yeah, I didn't catch her name. I did meet her at the park the other day, though. Mostly I was going to hang with Laurie and Leslie and Veronica. That works, right? I brought my cheese, and an apple, and ate some of Laurie's salad, and had some Diet Dr Pepper (thanks Veronica!). It was a quick, but fun lunch!

Laurie's son, Rowan

So Leslie and I headed back home at 12:30pm, I dropped her off, and headed to the West Siieeed. (hehe). And I was driving Captain America's car, so I was stressing a little about getting stuck on a hill, and rolling, and killing it, and such. It's a manual transmission, you know. But I did good, and no killing of the car happened. ROFL! We've only had the car as long as we've had Joe, and he turned 7 in August. ROFL!

Anyway, got to my appoint with enough time for a potty break before, and went in. It was a really good session. I just love my Therapist. He's a really great guy. We talked some more about me being insecure, and trying really hard to please everyone. And how I go along with how they act, or how they feel, or what they do, instead of deciding and consciously choosing for myself.

How my life kinda got "out of balance" there for a while, and what I can do to get it back in "balance". There were 8 aspects of our life that we were supposed to be "balanced" in, but I'm not remembering them all right now. I"ll have to look at my notes and review.... Anyway, I feel that the last couple of weeks, I've been doing SO much better at balancing all of these areas. Yeah me! He said that I'm doing pretty good, but that I need to make sure that I don't let myself slip back into old habits, or old patterns. So true :)

And said that I needed to exercise. He'd told me that the last 3 times that I'd gone to visit him, and I hadn't yet. So he said that I HAD to exercise today, and that I was supposed to text him after I did it. Hmpf! Fine! I'll exercise. But I won't like it - hehehe.

I headed out, and instead of going to Walmart, drove back toward home. Jake got Jimmy from the bus stop, and I still had 45 minutes before I needed to pick up the kids from After school PE (AQ). I didn't wanna go home and then leave again, so I went to Big Lots and Kmart, which are super close to the school. ha! Probably would have been cheaper to go home - ROFL!

Anyway, I found a new knife set at Big Lots. Captain America had said that we needed new knives, and he was SO right. Our knives suck. ha! And, I found a cookie press that I got for Eme (and for me). I figured that would be a super fun project to do with her. And a few other things.

And then at Kmart, I got some more flour and sugar, because I didn't know if I'd have enough for this cooking project, AND another one on Wednesday (chocolate raspberry cookies are what I'm planning...) And some black electrical tape for something that Jake was working on.

Anyway, finally it was ALMOST time to get the kids, so I went and sat in the parking lot at the school for about 15 minutes and texted with Captain America and Mandi. It was a good time :) And Captain Americas car has A/C, so it was all good - hehe

I picked up the kids, and headed back to post, dropping Bella off at her house. I brought all the stuff inside, and started to put stuff away.

So the Therapist had suggested that I take a kid walking with me for company, if I didn't want to go by myself. And yeah, that didn't sound like a very good option when he was talking to me. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought that maybe that would work. So I somehow talked Tom into coming with me.

And yeah, he was willing, but slow. He kept having to run to keep up. And asking me to slow down (which I didn't - gasp! Mean mom, I know...). But I think he had fun. But he was DEFINITELY tired when we got back home. Here's me and Tom on our way back home from our walk. 40 minutes of exercise. WOOHOO! I did it!

We got back home and turned on the ovens, and got the pizzas cooking. Thank goodness for getting it ready earlier in the day!

And Eme and I started on the cookie dough recipe on the side of the Cookie Press box. 1/2 a batch of chocolate, and 1/2 a batch of vanilla. AND, I'd bought real butter at the store last time, so the cookies were gonna be EVEN better, I thought.

And in the middle of making cookies (and totally messing up my kitchen), Leslie and John and their boys came by, dropping off a load of stuff. They're moving to Hawaii (yeah, LUCKY!) next month or so, and we're getting a TON of hand-me-downs from their house. Yeah, I'm TOTALLY stoaked about it! We got 2 desks, a dresser, 2 big book shelves, 3 fake trees, and a GINORMOUS TV tonight. AND, John moved it all in for us, AND set up the TV. Yeah, he rocks! That whole family rocks! hehe. I fed John some pizza, and continued to cook cookies with Emeline and Leslie, and chat, and have fun, and watch men folk being strong and electronics smart. hehe.

They went home a little before 7pm, and I cooked myself dinner. I read scriptures with the kids (Jake wanted to read Captain Americas part, because he was in the field - SO sweet :) and said family prayer with them, then off to bed they went. Joe and Eme had to clean their room because it was SO trashed, I sent Tom to read, Jake watched a movie in his room, and Jimmy I put to sleep. Well, put to bed. Put to sleep doesn't sound good - hehehe.

And here it is, 8:44pm, and I'm winding down for the evening. Ooo, maybe y'all know this answer to my electronics question. Or maybe you have a Techie brother-in-law/husband/son/friend, something. Anyway, we have a 46 inch LG TV. And I had it hooked up to my computer with a male/male computer monitor cord. To the back of the TV. With a double ended audio cord.

Well, I bought a HDMI cable today at Big Lots. And hooked up the laptop to the TV that way. But now it's not registering the audio cable. So no sound. Hmmm... Any suggestions? I like the look of the HDMI picture quality a TON better than the computer cord.

Oh yeah, and one more thing. I'm wanting to find some other TV to watch. I like Lie to Me (just found out that season 3 started - SQUEELS in delight!), and we just started watching The Office. Any other good shows out there? I used to watch Fringe, but I heard it got canceled. I've heard good things about Glee, but haven't watched any yet. Do y'all like that one? What do YOU watch?

OK, and I'm SURE you can figure out where I got todays idea from. LOVE me some Muse...

Grocery Shopping

Good Morning, my friends! How was your Columbus day? Did you get the day off? Captain America did, so I was SUPER happy. And the kids still had to go to school, so he and I got to spend the day together. hehe. Even better! LOL!

He and I had stayed up late the evening before, so I was SUPER tired when my alarm started going off. I finally dragged myself out of bed around 7am, read scriptures, said prayers, and got the kids off to the bus at 7:30am. Yeah, we had no milk. And no bread. And no eggs. And no oatmeal. I ended up scraping the last little bit of peanut butter out of the jar, and spreading it on 3 rice cakes, then slicing a banana to put on top of it. Sorry, kids! Today IS grocery shopping day, so tomorrow will be better :)

And since Jake and Jim and Captain America were al still asleep, I went back to bed too - hehe. And woke up at 8:30am, and got ready for the day. Well, kinda ready. It was a no shower kinda day - ha! I got Jimmy all ready and dressed, and Jake started on school, and Captain America got up and ready and fed and such, and he worked on his truck for a few minutes. He had a quick thing he needed to do. And it didn't work out, and he was a little frustrated, but had ideas on how to fix it, or who to call to ask.

And around 10:15m, we headed out. I'd convinced him that he wanted to go to Savers with me. ROFL! I'm still not sure how or what I said that convinced him, but I was glad :) I like Captain America to be my shopping buddy :)

Jake took Jimmy to the bus, and Captain America and I headed across town to Savers. But we had to stop at Howdy's first for a soda. I need my caffeine fix, you know. heheh. $0.99 one colored tag day, you know. Today the color was orange. And wouldn't you know it, all the tags I was finding were silver or blue.... I think they change the colors of tags so that there's less things.... hmmm.

I found 4-5 shirts with Orange tags for myself that fit. Not too bad :) And then we looked at Halloween costumes. We'd asked the kids before school what they wanted to be. Because we have a Ward Halloween party on Saturday, so today was the day to get the costumes together. Captain America was gonna be Cesear, and already had the costume, complete with wig! I was gonna be Cleopatra, and had nothing for it.

Jake wanted to be the Grimm Reapers. Tom was gonna be an army dude, and already had everything. Eme wanted to be a Greek Goddess. We had nothing for that. Joe wanted to be a soldier. We had some stuff from Tom for that, but I don't know if it'll fit. And Jimmy wanted to be Batman. Nothing for that one either.

We found a Batman costume for Jim, and I'll need to make a yellow belt for it. And figure out some kind of hood. It was used, so all the pieces weren't there. And I'll need to get a cape or make one, too.

We found the perfect dress for Emeline, white with fancy looking trim. Perfect for a Greek Goddess. We found a hooded robe for Jake, and a Scythe that was really cool. For Joe, we found a maroon cape that would go well for a knight.

And for me, we found a sheer curtain that will make a nice cape, and a white skirt, and some table runner thingy that will be PERFECT accents for my costume. Yeah, I still need a few more things, but it was a good start.

We spent entirely too long in Savers, but had a good time :) Because today was grocery shopping day, and because there's a Dollar Tree in the same complex as Savers, and because bread is cheaper at Dollar Tree than anywhere else, we swung by to pick some up. And ended up finding accessories for Joe's Knight costume, and some wide, wired ribbon for Eme and my costumes! Sa-weet!

Then we stopped by Fallas. And they were having a 50% off of clearance prices! Whaaaat? Yes! Jake and Tom and Eme all got a few pairs of pants for $2.50 each. And some shorts. And Jake and Eme got a shirt. And Captain America got a few shirts. And Captain America and I both got sandals for our costumes. And Jim and Joe both got polo shirt/short sets (Only $3.50 each). I love finding deals. hehehe.

So by this time, we were both STARVING, and headed to El Taco Tote on Zaragosa Rd. LOVE that one :) It has super fast service, and it tasty :) AND, the guacamole salsa was RIGHT and good today. Thank goodness! That's the main reason I like that place. hehehe.

Here's me with my chips! Yummy!

Yeah, Captain America isn't quite as happy as I am for a picture.... but then, most people aren't as happy as I am about pictures, now that I think about it... I wonder why that is.... hehehe :)
We finished eating, and headed home. But not before snapping a few pictures of ourselves in the car. Because that's just what I like to do :) And he's SO good to play along...

And we plugged my phone into his stereo, and listened to Muse the WHOLE way home. I love me some Muse, you know :) Here's me belting out "They....Will...Not...Force.....Us...." hehe. I know I'm a dork, but you still love me. And the people who pass us and I sing to love me too, I'm sure...

So we get home right at 2:30pm, and go to the bus stop to get Jimmy. He was SO excited to see Daddy's car waiting for him. hehehe. We headed home, and Captain America got back to work on his truck, and I got ready to go grocery shopping. Fun time - ha! Captain America had called his Truck contact guy and asked a few questions about why the part wasn't working, and needed to take something to him to look at, or something. Yeah, I don't speak car/truck/vehicle too well...

Anyway, I headed out to shop, leaving the men folk at home. I went to the commissary, and got all the food we need for a week. It's quite an endeavor, let me tell you. This gang eats a TON. hehehe.

I paid, loaded up, and headed home. I paid Jake a dollar to unload the groceries. Works for me. hehe. If he didn't want to, I was gonna offer Tom the dollar. I put all the groceries away, and Captain America headed out to see his truck dude.

The kids and I did chores, and got the house clean. Because it hadn't really been cleaned since before we went away for the weekend, and needed a little more TLC today :) The kitchen looked pretty good when we were done.

And I finished off my apron! Aren't you proud of me! I busted out the sewing machine, put Eme in charge of the French Toast, and sewed away :) Here's me with my finished product!

Captain America was home around dinner time, and everyone ate. And around 7pm, I realized that I'd forgotten to eat. Whaaaat? hehe. So I grabbed out some steak that I'd bought, and some veggies, and cooked myself up a nice little stir fry. Doesn't it look yummy!

And then we had Family Home Evening. Jimmy conducted, and Captain America gave the lesson. And then, after the closing prayer, we read scriptures together. We're gonna start something new for Family Scripture reading. Each day, we'll read 7 verses together (one for each member of the family). Captain America reads one, I read the next, then Jake, then Tom, the Eme, then we'll help Joe and Jim. Yeah, it's gonna take a SUPER long time to get through the Book of Mormon at that pace, but if we keep going, I know we can do it

We put the kids to bed, and Captain America started to pack for the Field, and I grabbed a laptop and started to blog. He's leaving tomorrow morning for a week. Hopefully I'll be able to still see him like I did last time he "went to the field". We'll see. Hmpf! I don't like it when he goes away :(

Little Hands Big Heart

Ha! I scrapbooked last night! Can you believe it? hehe. It's been MONTHS since I've actually scrapped a page. Captain America and I took some photos in front of the house right after church, and I thought they turned out SO cute, that they just begged to be scrapped. So I went shopping, and found this WONDERFUL kit from Studio Natali at Scrapbookgraphics, and here we go! Do you like?

This WordArt is coming out on Friday in my Anniversary WordArt Pack
And this masks is gonna go in a new WordArt Pack, too :)
And this masks too :)

And this mask too :)

OK, so back to life. hehe. I woke up at 7:30am, and promptly fell back asleep. Because church doesn't start until 12:30pm. Sa-weet! But what I wasn't counting on is not getting out of bed until 11:30am. Yeah, not so good. hehe. Next week, I'm starting to get ready at 10:30am. That should give us plenty of time.

Anyway, we were running behind. We got everyone ready, and the kids and I headed out the door at 12:24 pm. Yeah, we weren't gonna be on time. Church as 10 minutes away... Captain America followed in his car. We did make it during the opening song, so we made it for Sacrament, and I guess that's the most important part, right? hehe.

The primary kids were practicing for the Primary Program in the chapel during 2nd hour, so the Adult Sunday school class was moved to the Primary room. We met with the bishop during the first half of Sunday school. He's SUCH a nice, good man :) Captain America got a blessing, and we headed off to Sunday school. We're studying Isaiah. It was a pretty good lesson.

Captain America and I ate our snack between 2nd and 3rd hour block, and then I hurried in for Relief Society. We talked about Gifts that Heavenly Father blesses us with. Very nice lesson. It went about 10 minutes over, so by the time we got done, Captain America already had the kids in the truck, and we headed out.

Captain America and I took a few pictures of us as a couple (Jake was the photographer - my cell phone - ha!) outside our front door, and we changed clothes. I cooked dinner for the kids, then for myself, then sat down and relaxed for a while.

I scrapped, and hung with the kids. They did chores, and whatever else kids do to pass the time. hehe. I sent the little 3 to take baths/showers, then got them ready and into bed. Then I scrapped some more. Pretty sad that for scrapping for a few hours I only got 4 layouts. Oh well, better than nothing, right? hehe.

So here it is, almost 9pm, and the day is almost over. When church doesn't get out until 3:30pm, and we usually don't get home until 4pm, the last half of the day goes SUPER fast :)

Be That Example

Happy Saturday :) But then, it's Sunday by the time you're reading this, so Happy Sunday! hehe :)

I woke up, like clockwork, at 6:35am. Sure, I went back to sleep until 7:15am, but the point is, my body is used to getting up at that time. Too bad I went to bed SO late. hehe. Oh well, we're on vacation, right? Even if it's just a little mini vacation :)

I checked my emails, and then heard the kids next door. Just one jump, but still, I didn't wanna get in trouble, so I went next door to see what was going on. Jimmy had jumped off the bed, once, but the other kids told him to stop, so he was sitting quietly on the floor. All the kids were watching TV. Gone to bed late, gotten up early. Yeah, it was gonna be a LONG day :) hehe.

At 8am, the kids and I went downstairs and got some breakfast. Well, they got breakfast. I brought yogurt and a nectarine for myself. But they ate the continental breakfast. And they liked it :)

There was cereal, and bagels with cream cheese, and pasteries, and boiled eggs, and waffles, and muffins, and toast, and fruit, and juices. Yeah, I made them eat until they were full. Because we weren't stopping for lunch. We should be home around that time, so I wasn't paying for food. hehe.

Once they were full, we headed back upstairs. We got packed up, and everyone changed and ready for the day, and we were on the road by 10am. I really liked the Econolodge in Soccorro, and I'd go there again, for sure :)

We stopped for gas, and Captain America and I got a soda, and off we went. We turned on some music, and I sang and sang and sang...

And we stopped at Truth and Consequences, again, to let Jimmy go to the bathroom, and figured that since there was a Walmart right there, that we'd use the bathroom, buy some gum and a quick snack, and be on our way.

But yeah, the girls bathroom was being cleaned. Hmpf!

So Eme and I used the family bathroom. Check out that little potty. ha!
I got some more sugar free candies, some gum, and back in the truck. And down the road we went :) My hair was blowing all around ,so Captain America let me borrow his hat. Awe, he's so sweet :) And I think when I lost weight, I lost weight in my head, because his hat fit on my head. ROFL!

Ha! Eme's funny :)

Jimmy slept almost the WHOLE time on the way home. Poor kid was tired :) I designed 3 whole WordArt packs, too! Yeah me!

And at one point, I remember commenting that it smelled like stinky butt in the truck, and Jimmy piped in with "That's DEFINITELY me!" ha!

We got home around 1pm. And unloaded the truck, and made lunch for everyone, and yeah, I went to take a nap. Because I'd gotten up early with the kids :) Anyway, I slept from 1pm to 2pm. And yeah, it felt SO good. Naps are my friend!

Then I hopped in the shower, and got ready for the game :) We needed to leave around 3:30pm. We got the kids are ready for the evening, with directions and such, and out we went.

We drove over to UTEP (University of Texas El Paso), and tried to find a parking place. And yeah, we had to park a half a mile away. Sigh. Wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't have on high heel boots. Oh well, at least I can count this as exercise. hehe.

Here's Captain America and I before walking to our "tailgate" party
We found the guys from his Battalion, and hung. For a VERY long time. We totally thought the game started soon after the tailgate party. Not so. Not so... It started at 7pm. So that was 3 and a half hours of "tailgating". Oh goodness :)

We hung and chatted and ate some food, and stalled, and chatted some more.

And finally, at 6:20pm, we walked over to the stadium. The Sun Bowl! Pretty cool, huh?

Me and my ticket

And I totally missed the fireworks. But I did get the smoke - ROFL!
And the Miner Dancers are known as "The Gold Diggers". ha! I thought it was pretty funny :)
It was pretty fun watching the game. The Miners were doing REALLY well. When we left during the 3rd quarter, we were winning 37-10. Yeah, I'm pretty sure they won. hehe.

We walked back to our car (about a mile away), and headed home. The kids were already in bed, and I pulled out the laptop, and got on designing and blogging. Captain America and I sat on the couch while I worked and watched old episodes of "The Office". It was a really good day :)
