Fun wihTools

Morning, all! Welcome to Wednesday! In my family growing up, Wednesday before Thanksgiving was always Pie Making Day. Or just Pie Day for short. hehe. SO, I'll be making pies today :) But lets talk about yesterday. hehe.

Captain America was up and gone by 7:30am, but me? Yeah, I slept in. hehe. 9:30am and I was just waking up. Gotta love vacation day :)

I made sure the kids were all good, and I hopped on the computer for a while. I chatted with my mom for a while, and checked my emails, and facebook, and just played around for a while.

And finally, around 10:30am, I got in the shower. And got all pretty and ready for the day. Eme let me borrow her pink jacket thing. Thanks, Eme! You can borrow my white one any time :)

At 11:30am, I got lunch going, and the kids ready for lunch, and I headed out to my therapy session. Here's me, ready to go.

Me drinking my first Diet Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash. Let the holiday season OFFICIALLY begin :)
I got there about 5 minutes early, so sat and checked my emails, and, of course, took a picture. hehe.

When I was done, I headed to the Dollar Tree. My mom had texted me a picture of some cupcakes she'd made yesterday, and I thought they were SO cute! AND, Captain America and the other 1LT's were planning a BBQ for the battery, and I had volunteered to make desserts. And I thought that the cupcakes my mom made would be PERFECT. They looked like little pies.

SO, I remembered that last time I stopped by the Dollar Tree, they had $1 cans of Apple Pie filling. Perfect! So I swung by, got 4 cans, and went on to Walmart.

And you know what. Next year, I'm TOTALLY not going to Walmart 2 days before Thanksgiving. It was INSANE! People everywhere. Craziness!

I got all the baking items I needed, and the Thanksgiving food items I needed. I'm making Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Gravy, Rolls, Fruit Salad, Green Bean Casserole, Cheese Ball and Crackers, Veggie Plate, Deviled Eggs. And Pie. Lots of Pie. Pumpkin, and Pecan, and Pumpkin Mousse, and maybe Apple.

And then I realized that it was 2:30pm, and I hadn't eaten lunch yet. And I was HUNGRY! So I swung by the in store McDonalds, and got 2 side salads and 2 burgers. I pulled off the buns, and tore the burger into pieces, and put them on my salad. And got a big drink. And then paid, and headed home.

The kids were SO excited to see me. hehe. I told them I'd bring them a treat, so yeah, maybe they were excited about the treat, not so much about me - hehe. I had bought a Christmas candy dish, and some mints.

We unloaded the truck, and started on the cupcakes. 4 boxes of Butter Yellow. Looked pretty good. Eme was my baking partner :) One box of cake mix, one cube of margarine or butter, 2/3 cup of water, and 3 eggs. Beat on low until mixed, then 2 minutes on medium.

And I put it in 24 cupcake tins with liners. And cooked for 15 minutes. Then, when the one batch was in the over, I did another. And 4 boxes of cake mixes. For a total of 96 cupcakes. Sigh. hehe.

And then, after they were cooled, I opened up one of the cans of apple pie filling. And I decided that 1 slice of apple from the can, cut into 4 pieces, with some of the goo (yeah, I know there's a more technical term for it, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it would be at the moment...). Then I took some canned frosting, put it in a tube with a flat tip, and put a ring around the outside of the cupcake, making it looked like a pie crust. And then 2 stripes, vertically and horizontally, to look like the lattice work of a pie. SO cute!

And yeah, it really did take forever. But it was kinda fun. I'd recommend putting the tube of frosting into the fridge between frostings. Because it got kinda warm. And melty.

And yeah, my feet were KILLING me. See, I probably should have changed my shoes. Because I was still wearing my high heel boots. During the making of all 96 cupcakes. hehe.

And I was finally done, and I hadj the kids help me put all of the cupcakes into the fridge. Look at ALL of those pies...
And here's me, at 6:30pm, realizing that I still had to cook dinner for the kids. Ewwwh! hehe :) I was SO done with cooking :)

And then Captain America came home. And I proudly showed him ALL of the cupcakes, and he kinda got this funny, panicked look on his face. The other 1LT's at work had decided to post pone the BBQ until December. And they hadn't told him until 4pm, and he hadn't been in a position to text and tell me. Sigh. So now I had 96 pie cupcakes in my fridge. hehe.

So we took a tray into the house, and we all had one. OMHeavens, they were WONDERFUL! If I'm ever having a cupcake, I'm TOTALLY making those! I bet they'd be tasty in cherry, too. Or fresh strawberries. Now THAT would be good!

And I took some cupcakes over to Leigh's house, and we decided to give the rest to the battery tomorrow anyway. What else would I do with that many cupcakes. ha!

And then we got the kids all ready for bed, and sat them down with a movie, and Captain America and I headed out. He wanted to go to Lowes and the auto parts store, and I wanted to go to El Taco Tote. hehe :)

See that guacamole salsa on the left end? Yeah, it's my FAVORITE!
But yeah, it was WAY more spicy than normal. Here's me, breathing fire!
It was even spicy for Captain America - hehe
Good thing it was all you can drink soda, right?

And then we headed to Lowes, because it was right across the street. Captain America needed letters for stencils for work. Or something like that. And yeah, I had WAY too much fun taking pictures of myself with all the tools. Fun with Tools, time - ha!

Captain America, trying to decide whether to get stencils or stick on letters. Tough decisions, I know, huh?

And then my feet were officially dying. Seriously. 11 hours in high heel boots. Not cool. Not gonna do that one again :) I was SO glad to get back to the car. hehe.
We stopped by the Auto Parts store on the way home, and I stayed in the warm car. Because my shoes were killing my feet. I checked my email, and read my scriptures, and then Captain America was done, and we headed home.

The kids were just finishing up their movie, I grabbed my computer to blog, and Captain America put the kids to bed. Captain America and I watched 2 episodes of The Office, then we said couples prayer, and he went to bed. I finished up blogging, watched an episode of Glee, and it's now 11:25pm. This episode is almost over, and I'm tying things up :) Kari and kids and my kids and I are going to the zoo tomorrow. Should be a fun time. Then, it'll be back home for some pie time :)

A Day Spent With Family

Hi there! Hope things are going well this week for y'all! My kids have the WHOLE week off! Well, the 4 youngest ones, anyway. Jake had school today, but I gave him tomorrow off, and he already got Wed/Thurs/Fri. So he was pleased.

Captain America had 0730 formation, and he was up and gone before I was awake. Poor guy :) I woke up around 8:30am, read scriptures, said prayers, and had breakfast. Then got ready, and got Eme ready, and she and I headed out around 9am to go to Savers. She was pretty excited to come on a shopping trip with Mom.

Tom asked that I buy him a new bike pump when I was out and about so that he could ride his bike today. Captain America had taught him how to fix his bike yesterday, and he was SO excited to ride it. How could I refuse. hehe.

Eme and I drove the 25 minutes across town, and finally got to Savers. We had quite a few bags of clothes to donate, got our discount coupon, and went shopping. And I must have been the first person in the jeans of my size, because there were TON of "Orange" tags (the $0.99 color today). I grabbed everything in my size range that look mildly cute. hehe.

I got a few cover ups for my formals (I don't know what they're called...), and a few shirts, and some other stuff to try on. We found a SUPER cute dress/jacket for Emeline. And we waited FOREVER for a fitting room. But finally got one. Eme went first, and her dress looked GREAT on her. Then she helped me with all my clothes. hehe. I'd pass her stuff that didn't fit, and she'd put it on the "do not want" rack, and guarded the cart. I kept her pretty busy, but she had a big smile on her face the whole time :)

I ended up with 3 cover up things, 2 shirts, a coat, a sweater, and 8 pairs of jeans. Eme got a dress/jacket, and a "fur real friends" toy. Not too bad, all for $35. And 2 of those pairs of jeans were Gap. Awesome, huh :)

And then we loaded up and headed to the Dollar Tree for Bread and a turkey pan.

Here's Eme in the truck

And me
It was a quick trip to Dollar Tree, then it was off to Walmart. To get the tire pump. We also go some $0.98 brown and serve rolls. AND, a $0.68 a lb turkey. I could have got a cheaper one at Big 8, but I was there, and there were only a few left. So I decided to go for it.

AND, when I got to the check out, they were price matching, so I got it for $0.35 a lb. Sa-weet! So I got a 15 lb turkey for $6.00. And some french fried onions. And some cranberry sauce.
And we headed home. Tom was SO excited about the pump, and the other kids were happy for the Bread. Because we were out. I made a TON of sandwiches (in squares and triangles for Jim), we had lunch, and we had about 30 minutes before the pool. Tom fixed his bike, and went out to ride around the neighborhood real fast :)

And the kids put on their swim clothes, and we headed up to the pool around 1:30pm. And no friends came right away, so I pulled out my laptop (cause I was prepared) and designed my freebie for tomorrow. And then realized that I had no "ideas" left on this computer for WordArt pack. Crap.

Luckily, Kari and her daughter came a few minutes after I was done designing the freebie. Yes! I put the laptop away, and she and I chatted and watched the kids swim. It was a very nice afternoon :)

Look how wrinkly Joe's fingers were!
Jake and Joe

We headed home around 3:30pm, got changed, got a snack, and relaxed for a while. See my snack? 35 calorie egg with 1 egg (french toast) cooked on the George Forman.

And I took a pic of my finds from Savers. What do ya think?
And we just kinda hung out for the rest of the night. We watched a movie, and had left overs, and I tired to nap, but no luck (hehe), and then Captain America got home at around 6pm. And we had family home evening, and sent the kids to bed around 7pm. Some were playing quietly in their rooms, and some were reading, and some were sleeping.

Captain America and I watched a few episodes of the office, then decided to go for a soda and to exchange a few clothes from Fallas for sizes that fit Captain America. He guessed too big. He needed a smaller size :)

First stop, Howdy's. See, no soda. There's a problem. I needed a refill. hehe.

And, I can never resist goofy pictures...

Aaaa, much better! Diet Dr Pepper goodness!
Then we drove to O'Rieleys Auto Parts, but it was closed. So we went across the street to Fallas, and they were closed, but hadn't locked the doors yet, so they let us slip in and exchange the clothes. I KNOW we were there till 10pm Saturday.... But the lady assured us they closed at 9pm. Different workers. Maybe the Saturday people just felt like staying open longer? hehe.

And then across the street from there was a Big 8. I had seen a flyer earlier in the week, saying that Pepsi products were $2.12 a 12 pack IF you buy 4 at a time. And, while I don't like Pepsi, I LOVE Diet Dew. So we were on the hunt. hehe. AND, if you spend $20, you get a turkey for $0.34 a lb. And who couldn't use another $5 turkey. hehe.

As we were driving in the parking lot, I saw this sign, and just HAD to get a picture. hehe. Butt? ha!

My head was starting to hurt. I'd taken meds before we left, but it was getting worse and worse. Sigh. Stupid headache! But I pushed on.

We found Diet Sierra Mist, Cranberry Splash! And it was on sale. But no Diet Dew. Hmpf! We we got some regular Dew for a work party that Captain America's having this week, and settled for a few diet pepsi flavors (gag). And then we found another palette of soda in the meat section. Still no Diet Dew.

AND, as an afterthought, we checked out the actual soda isle. I really thought Captain America was gonna hurt himself. He did a happy dance RIGHT THERE IN THE ISLE and jumped for joy. hehe. There were about 10 cases of Diet Dew. So of course we bought it all. ha!

We paid, and headed home. And I'm typing fast and furiously to get this blog done and go to bed. Because my head hurts. And it's making me nauseous. And I don't like it. I may take another Imitrex before I go to bed. Yeah, that sounds like a plan :) Wish me luck that it's gone when I get up in the morning :)
