You Can't Always Get What You Want

Hey, girls! Hope you're having a wonderful day so far. I must admit, I'm SO ready for bed. It just turned 11pm, and I'm EXHAUSTED. Don't know how I manage to fit so much into one short day. hehe.

Woke up today around 7am, read scriptures, said prayers, and got Eme ready for Volleyball camp. And I totally drove her up there barefoot. hehe. I didn't wanna take my socks off, and didn't wanna put on shoes. ROFL!

I dropped her off at 8am, and headed back home. I texted a few friends for a while, then chatted on the phone with Andrea for about 30 minutes. Here's the photo of myself that I took for her. Aren't I lovely? ha!

I played on the computer for a bit, and edited this photo of Terra's. It's her daughter Eryn and her sister, Avery. Aren't they cute!

At 10:30, Tom and Joe and Jim were awake, and Jake was still asleep. And I needed out of the house, kid free or a bit. So I headed to Big Lots. I was looking for a trash can with a lid. Maybe that would keep Boxer out of it...

I wandered around for a bit, found a few things, and headed back home. I found this ceramic spoon holder for the stove. Funny, but I've never owned one of these, and ALWAYS wanted one. So I bought on today!
Here's the trash can that I found. I'm gonna have Jake pick the sticker off. He's a picker, you know. hehe.
And this cooler. It's girlie colors. hehe.
And I found Bump Its! hehe. Never had them before. They're kinda spiffy. Can you tell that my hair is a bit taller than usual? hehe
We all got changed and ready for the pool, then headed out at 12:10 to get Eme and to have free lunch. Today was chicken nuggets, carrots, oranges or apples, and milk. Jake was still asleep when we left, so it was just Tom and Joe and Jim and Eme and I.
After eating, the kids and I headed to the pool. And my phone was totally dying. And I had no friends to chat with... Wo's me... hehe. Luckily, within 20 minutes, I saw someone that I knew. hehe.

I headed over to hang with my friends. Virginia and Margot were there! Yes! We hung by their seats, and then got in the water for a bit. And later, Kari and her kids came! Friends galore :) I went and hung with Kari, and she'd met a new lady. Liz. Her and her family had just moved to El Paso 4 days ago. They're waiting on Housing, and living in a hotel. Ick! Doesn't sound like fun. We traded numbers, and told her to come and play with us sometime :)

At 3pm, we left, headed home, got changed real fast, and headed up to the library. And all the kids came. Sigh. I SO wanted Jake to stay home with Jim, but he wasn't acting well enough to leave him in charge. I can always tell when he's "UP" for it and when he's not. And today was a not day...

So we all drove on up. We turned in our library books, and the kids checked out new library books for the summer reading program. And then we sat down for the movie. Sword in the Stone was today. No educational movie today. And the kids sat there the whole entire time, watching it quietly. See, we just needed a more entertaining movie for them. hehe.

Kari read some in her book, and worked on some birthday cards for her business mailings, and I designed a Facebook Invitation for Girls Night Out next week. It was funny, because within 5 minutes of putting it on Facebook, Terra had found it and was tagging people in it! Sw-eet! I didn't even have to ask. hehe.

We headed home, and I got dinner going. I'd put in BBQ chicken in the crock pot earlier in the day, and started the rice cooker when I got home. We had rice and chicken for dinner. And I got about 45 minutes to sit quietly in my room and relax.

Joe had gone to Kari's to play with Leo, and Jim and I headed out to the movies. Eme and Tom and Jake were playing on electronics at home. Cars 2! Jim was SO excited! We got our tickets, and bought some popcorn and drinks. He was SUPER excited about that! I had him pose in front of a few posters. Cool, huh?

We went in and found our seats, munched on some popcorn, took a few pictures, and enjoyed the movie. Well, he REALLY enjoyed the movie. I tolerated it. NOT my favorite...
But it was good because I was watching it with Jimmy, and because he absolutely loved it. But, it was the worst Pixar Movie yet... Wall-E was slow, but it seemed to have more substance. This one just seemed flashy, and busy, and colorful. There were some funny lines in it, and I did laugh a bit. But it just wasn't as good as the first one.

Terra and the twins and the big girls had come too, and they left 1/2 way through the movie. I took Jim to the bathroom about that time, and got a popcorn and soda refill. I don't think I missed much. The 2nd half was better than the first half. I mean, it wasn't the worst movie that I'd ever seen. I've seen some DUMB movies in my time. But it just wasn't up to the normal Disney/Pixar standards. In my opinion.

We got home at 9 something, I got Jim to bed, Joe came home from Kari's, Eme went to bed, and Jake and Tom watched a movie on the couch, and I changed clothes and Kari and I went on another 4 mile walk. Yes! I'm gonna get in shape/lose weight eventually... I wish I could report that I was doing better, but I'm struggling still...

Anyway, we walked and chatted and tried to avoid the sprinklers. It was an maze in places. hehe. Good workout, though! I got home after 10pm, and started blogging. And was SOOO incredibly tired. I'm SO ready for bed. The boys are watching a movie, and I'm gonna finish up my episode of 24 and go straight to bed. *Yawns*

I'm going to Yoga with Kari tomorrow, then hurrying back to the Youth Center to pick up Eme from Volleyball camp. Don't know if we'll make it to the pool or not... Maybe I need to stay home and take a good, long nap tomorrow. LOL.

Amanda comes home tomorrow, too, I think. Miss ya, my dear! Drive safely!

Higher Ground

Hola :) How are all of my peeps today??? Good Monday? Do anything fun???

Mine started out at 7 something when my alarm went off. I read my scriptures, then re-set it for later. hehe. And went back to sleep. And woke up, said my prayers, and hurried out to get Eme ready for Volleyball camp! Jake and Tom and Joe were already awake, and were having breakfast. Eme's alarm hadn't gone off, so she was a bit rushed, but managed to get ready on time.

We loaded up in the car, and she and I headed up to the Main Post Youth Center where the camp is. And saw Charlotte in the parking lot! Her 12 year old, Maddie, is in the camp too!!! I took the girls inside, and got them situated, and headed home. But decided to swing by the commissary first, and get some milk and a few other needed items. I pulled in the parking lot, and realized that I'd grabbed my pool bag. It had my military ID and my drivers license. But no $$$. Crap. So I drove home. And decided to go to Walmart. Joe and Jim both wanted to go, so they got ready.

I told Jake and Tom that once chores were done, that they could have free time. So they were cleaning when we left. We got to the "Jaurez" Walmart, got my favorite parking place (yeah!), and headed inside. And noticed a sign near the bakery that said "Free Cookie". So we asked about it, and the chickie was like, put your sticker here. Eh? What sticker? She was like, Didn't the greeter give you a sticker? Um, no. So we went back and asked for a sticker. He didn't seem like he wanted to give us one! But he did, and we went back to the bakery.

We gave the bakery chickie the stickers, the kids got the cookie, and off we went to shop. I had a list, and mostly stuck to it. Mostly. hehe. A few things ended up in there that we didn't need, but mostly just necessities.

We paid, and headed home. And I realized that I like shopping by myself better than with children. hehe. They'd talked me into buying new pillows for everyone, and Joe and Jim were totally having pillow wars all the way to the car. Sigh.

We got home, put our groceries away, and had some free time. The house was mostly clean, so I sat down to watch an episode of 24. And design a bit more. I think I got 2 WordArt packs done.

At noon, we loaded up in the truck, and headed to the Youth Center to get Eme. And have lunch. Then head to the pool. Charlotte texted this picture of Eme and Maddie to me. Aren't they cute!!!

By the time we got there, they were out of Grilled Cheese sandwiches for lunch, but had watermelon and milk and fries. The kids ate, then we headed out. I'd brought a shake. Normally, I don't like shakes. But I bought strawberries and protein powder, and figured I'd give it a try. It wasn't horrible...

And we headed to the pool. Joe had packed Eme a swimsuit and a towel (sweet boy), and we caught up with Terra. Her twins were in daycare, and she'd brought her 12 year old and her 15 year old sister with her. Terra wasn't swimming, and was sitting in the shade, so I went to sit with her. We hung and chatted and had a grand time :) I did go down the slide at one point to cool off. It's hot in the summer time in El Paso, you know! hehe.

Margot and Emma came a bit later, and chatted and played. Everyone seemed to have fun. We headed home around 2pm, I think.

We got home, and had some free time. I tried to watch some 24, but I fell asleep. ha! And had a nice nap. I woke up around 4:30ish, and cooked some Manwiches for the kids for dinner. Then I went and took a shower. Amazing, I know!

The girls and I were gonna go to a movie! Terra had seen Something Borrowed when it first came out, and LOVED it. So we'd decided to go and see it when it came to the $2.00 theater. And tonight was the night. ha!

Here's me in the car, on the way to Terra's house. I'd left Jake and Tom in charge, and gave them all the directions they needed for the evening.

Margot and I got to Terra's house around the same time, and went in. Emma was gonna stay with the girls. My twin was SO happy to see me. hehe.
I wanted to take a pic of her, but she was totally picking her nose! hehe.
So I took one with me picking my nose too! ROFL!
And so did Eryn! There ya go, Kendra. Now you won't feel embarrassed - ha!
Terra had bought some of the White Cheddar popcorn seasoning a while back, and hated it. Whaaaat? Its the best stuff EVER. So she gave it to me. See how happy I am? hehe.
Margot and Terra and I drove on over to Montwood movie theater, got our tickets and popcorn, and sat down for the movie. Kari came a few minutes late, and the 4 of us had SUCH A great time watching the movie. Laughing and being loud and everything. LOVED the movie. Especially watching it with Friends!

Amanda, if you read this, I'll TOTALLY go with you to see it again when you get back in town! hehe.

The soda and popcorn had refills, so after the movie, I got a popcorn refill to take home to the kids, and a soda refill for myself :) And we headed back to post. Singing music from the show the whole way home :)

My refill for Jake and Tom
I got home, and the kids were in bed, and Jake and Tom were getting ready to watch a movie. And the house was TRASHED. Kari and I had made plans to go on a 4 mile walk (still 93 degrees at 10pm...). We had to wait till the sun went down, because it's too intense otherwise.

I changed my clothes, and left the boys with directions to get the house clean BEFORE I got back home. They were cleaning when I headed to the park to meet Kari. And we had a GREAT walk. We walked and sweated and chatted the whole way. I missed her this past week! We're gonna try and get together for a walk at night after the sun goes down more often!

Here's me when I got home :)
The boys had got the house cleaned, and were just turning on the movie when I walked in. I sat down with them to watch the movie and to blog. It's now almost midnight, and the movie is almost over. And I'm done blogging. Not sure what the day holds tomorrow.

I've got to have Eme to Volleyball at 8am, and pick her up at noon. We may be going to the pool tomorrow with Kari. Not sure, though. We'll find out tomorrow, right? hehe.

Go Your Own Way

I was bad today. I got up at 7:30am, or was it 8:00 am, blogged since my blog didn't post last night, and then spent the rest of the day sleeping, designing, and watching movies with the kids. Yup, no church.

I was totally gonna put everything away and go and take a shower and get ready at 11am ish, but my head kinda hurt. And I just didn't wanna mess with it. I know, I know, it's bad. I realy should have gone. I know I should have. But I didn't want to drag all the kids out and across town and have them fight me on it. I'll go next week. I super duper promise :)

We didn't even have to be there until 1pm. Slacker me today.... Anyway, not much happened around here. I did get 16 WordArt Packs designed (give or take a few). And Tom and I, and the other kids a little bit, watched the Bourne Trilogy. And some 24. And some Kim Possible. And a few other shows.

Eme's friend Alexis came around, and they played Monolopy and baked cookies and did some quiet activities. Tom and Jake tried to convince me that because Eme had a friend over, that they should get to play computer. Yeah, SO not the same thing. I countered with, Well, if you wanna invite your friends over to bake cookies, you can too. They weren't too happy about that answer. hehe.

I got to text with Captain America for a while. We figured out that he can email texts to my phone. SO continent for me. If I can't talk in person, texting is a favorite mode of communication.

I edited a few pics and put some filters and ran some actions on them, and they came out looking SUPER cute. We did chores, and the hose is mostly clean now. It's 9:18pm, and we're finishing up the last of the Bourne movies. Everyone is still awake. Only definite plans for tomorrow is Eme's Volleyball camp from 8-12 on main post. Maybe free lunch and pool after that!

GREAT use of colors, my dear! Those oranges and greens together are simply FAB! Thanks, Sharon!!!

Walk in the Light, the Blog (hehe)

I blogged. I really did! And it took me about an hour. And I was done before 10pm. And I hit publish at 7am, and it was all ready and set to go. Then, when I wake up this morning, I start getting emails about missing my blog. Whaaaat? So, I go and look, and nope, it's gone. Just the WordArt part is left. What the crap? SO not cool....

So, here goes. Blogging about Saturday, take 2.... Lets see if I can remember what I did. Ha!

I'd taken an Ambien on Friday night, because after the SUPER long week I'd had, I needed a nice sleep. And a nice sleep is what I got! I woke up between 9:30 and 10am! Captain America was Skyping with Tom when I went out to check on the kids.

We all chatted with him, even Boxer got in on the action. I was sitting on the couch with Tom, and he totally jumped up on my lap! hehe. Dang, he's heavy! I think he weighs as much as Jimmy. Imagine that jumping on your lap. hehe.

We chatted for about an hour, then Captain America needed to go to bed, and we got ready for the pool. Joe and Jim and Tom and I headed out. Eme wanted to stay home with Jake, and he was still sleeping. We made up some peanut butter sandwiches, and brought some banana chips (they were supposed to be for Captain America's package...we'll have to go back and get some more. hehe), and headed out.

Not too many people at the pool. But then, we got there 10 minutes after it opened. Ha! Amanda joined us, and we spent a few hours at the pool. The big slide wasn't working today (they were trying their best to get it working, though), and I SO wanted to go down it and fall in the cold water. But I didn't wanna just jump in the pool.

So we let the kids swim, and we hung out in the sun.

But quickly moved to the shade. Because it was SO hot and intense. And yes, I totally had on sunscreen. SPF 30 today!

Amanda had brought chips and gatorade, and the kids had a nice little feast. Eating and diving and sliding (on the smaller yellow slide) and swimming. Great way to spend part of the day!Amanda tried to turn on some music, and her Driod freaked out. It started playing everything in Chipmunk style. SO funny. Well, maybe not, because that meant that her phone was malfunctioning. But still, it was humorous!

She and I got in eventually. We sat on the edge with our feet in the water for the longest time. The water was SO cold. But eventually, I jumped. Very brisk. hehe. But it really did feel good. Our high was 106 today!

We headed home around 1pm. Don't wanna wear of the "funness" of the pool all in one day, right? hehe. The kids wanted popsicles, and me, ever the clever one, decided to make them work for it. 1 popsicle for cleaning out the car, 2 for cleaning out the truck, 1 for straightening the backyard, 1 for chores/rooms, 3 for cleaning out the garage. Eme and Joe and Jim and I worked on the garage. Cleaned and swept out! See, it looks pretty good.
Tom and I watched a movie in my room on my couch, and I fell asleep with about 30 minutes left on the movie. And when I woke up, I moved to my bed to finish my nap. hehe. It felt SO good. What a great, lazy Saturday!

When I got up, the kids were all playing nicely. Jake, Eme, and Tom were on laptops, and Joe and Jim were on Just Dance 2 on the Wii.

I found the extra Wii remote on the couch, and joined Joe in his game. hehe. LOVE that game, and really do need to play it more often!
We all had dinner (fend for yourself night...), and I headed out to help Amanda get her hubbys car over to his work. Remember, we'd taken it to get maintenance. He's still in the field, and Amanda is heading to New Mexico to visit family tomorrow. She and I both drove out to Far Biggs, left his car, and we headed back to main post.

She wanted to say thanks by buying me a Blizzard, since we'd been talking about them ALL week long. SURE thing, my dear! I'm always up for a Blizzard. hehe.

We stopped by Freedom Crossing at the PX, and went to Dairy Queen. Never been in there before. They have a mini size, and it was JUST perfect! Brownine batter Blizzard. Oh yeah!

We sat outside, ate our Blizzards, then headed back home. I dropped her and Austin off at her house, then went back to mine. From 8-9pm, the kids and I did a super clean of the house. Kitchen cleaned, living room cleaned, dining room cleaned, backyard cleaned, pool put away, bikes organized. Oh yeah, the house looked super when we were done!

I sat down and blogged from 9-10pm (but it apparently didn't stick...), then was done. And was trying to decided whether I wanted to design or watch more TV. And then started texting Amanda, and she invited me over. Visit with friends sounded like a PERFECT idea. hehe.

The kids were all in bed and asleep, except for Jake, who was reading in his room. I let him know where I was going, and headed out. She and I watched some TV, part of a movie, and chatted, and had a fun time. I managed to get 2-3 WordArt packs designed, so it was a productive evening. hehe.

I got home a little before 1am, and went straight to bed. We have Stake Conference on Sunday, and it doesn't start till 1pm. So sleeping in was DEFINITELY on the plan.

I woke up at 7:30/8am (not sleeping in too much, I guess) and couldn't go back to sleep. I checked emails, and realized that my blog hadn't "stuck". Crap. So, here I am, 9am already, and I'm done blogging. For the 2nd time... Kids and I are watching a movie (well, little kids, anyway. Jake and Tom are still asleep) and we'll have to start getting ready for church around 10:30am.
