So was your Monday good? Great? Fabulous? I sure hope so! Mine started off at 7am when my alarm went off. And I was SO not ready to get up. But I did. I got the kids their cereal, and then Jimmy wandered out of his room, sad and crying. He didn't wake up well. I took him back to bed and snuggled in his room with him for a few minutes. It made all the difference.
Jake woke up soon after the other kids left to walk to school, and started his work. I got a WordArt pack designed, and chatted with Captain America and his Mom and Dad on the webcam for a while.
After lunch, we all went to Hobby Lobby. The pretty parts of my wreath were on sale for 50% off, and I was SO excited. I found just the perfect pieces. Captain America bought some canvas boards for an art piece he wants to do, and we got a sketch book for Jake. He loves to draw.
We stopped at the commissary on the way home to get cash and Splenda. Just the essentials - ROLF! I assembled my Wreath when I got home, and hung it with pride. What do ya think? The bow's not the best, but maybe Kim will help me with it when she gets back from Ft. Sill. She's out there visiting some friends, but should be back home soon. Oh Kim.....
After that, I had the kids do their homework, and started on Family Home Evening. The Huezos and us were going to Kelly Park for Family Home Evening. I made up a Scripture Scavenger hunt. They get a picture clue, and 2 scripture references. One of the scriptures corresponds with the picture clue. When they pick the right scripture, they turn over the card, and find their next clue. It took me FOREVER to make it up. My brain power was running on empty by the time I was done.
Captain America had made dinner for the kids, and after I was done with my Family Home Evening preparations, I hurried out and made myself a salad. I didn't have time to cook anything else.... SO, we load up in the truck, drop Jake off at Wrestling practice, and head for Kelly Park. Which is closed. Who knew it was closed on Mondays?
SO, the Huezos and us come back to our park near our house, read a scripture, say a prayer, and eat our refreshments. The guys chat, and the girls supervise the kids. Andrea and Katy and Adela ended up at the park with their kids, so Sister Huezo and I ended up chatting with them for a while. The kids had a lot of fun at the park.
When we got home, I read another chapter of "The Hunger Games" to the kids, put them to bed, and Captain America went to pick up Jake. The coaches said that he had potential, and that they wanted him to stay and practice until 8:30 on Monday nights. He can't go on Wednesdays because of Scouts. SO, it's 2 1/2 hours of practice on Monday nights. The kids is REALLY enjoying it, though. AND, we're running the canyon again on Saturday. 9am. I'm making sure my stroller has full tires this time - hehehe.

And I thought that Joe looked SO cute, that I had to snap a picture of him. Remember that test that I said that he had to have before we could see about getting him back in Kindergarten? He brought home the test results today. There were 6 areas that they tested them in. Mathematics, Phonological Awareness/Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension, and Writing. He only passed in Writing. See, I think he needs Kindergarten again. SO, we're gonna go and talk with his teacher tomorrow.

And, a pic of me. I know, I'm a freak. You should see the pics on my camera right now. Me making funny faces. I don't know why it amuses me so much. My husband is SO lucky that I'm SO easy to please. hehehe. Whatever would he do if I were high maintenance???
Hehehe. I thought this WordArt was just TOO funny. Don't you ever feel that way. Be it kids, or husbands, or what not. You've met your quota for the day and just need to be by yourself. No? It's just me? hehehe.

I have a LOT of respect for you. I've met many parents who would understand that their child should repeat a grade but they didn't want the stigma of being "left behind" labeled on their child. They'd push them through and by Jr High, they were failing miserably and then would eventually quit. I know I'd keep my child back because it would eventually help them. But then, I'm a weird mommy who homeschools. LOL. Great colors on the wreath!
Very humorous wordart--I think we all feel that way at one time or another, but some of us can admit it and some can't. ;)
That is hilarious! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for this Freebie. I want to let you know that I posted a link to your blog in CBH Digital Scrapbooking Freebies, under the Page 10 post on Sep. 22, 2009. Thanks again.
Great quote & photo ... especially for someone who once worked in quality control. Sometimes you just gotta say "nope, sorry, all used up" - and it means so much on many levels! :-)
Great quote and you are right it goes good with that picture! Good for you in seeing that your son needs to re-take kindergarten, some parents get upset if their child is held back, but sometimes I think it really helps some kids. Everyone learns at their own pace, and moving around a lot with different schools in the same year can make it harder for some. Speaking from someone who was a new kid in 6 schools in one school year.
Thanks for updating us on Joe - although I am so impressed he passed writing as I think that's something a lot of kids struggle with. Keep pushing for that kindy place ! XX
love your neice's picture, hope I can find something as creative to use with your lovely word art. I've admired it for a long time! redjanfan
Good for you! Better for him to retake Kindergarten then get farther along and hit the wall...hard. (been in similar hard education choice positions too.) Good luck!
This is so funny...I homeschool 2 teenagers PLUS we are on a robotics team ... so I am with them 24/7 ... and this is exactly how I feel at times! Thanks! Sharon Kay
Hey, thanks for the word art and would you share your treasure hunt clues?
