Wake Up!

Grrr, you know, it really was a good day. Right up until the end, it was a pretty darn good day.... I need to remember that, I think, and focus on the good stuff, not the hard stuff, right?

It was late (after 1am) when I went to bed last night, so I was SUPER tired when I woke up in the morning. I groggily got the kids off to school, then crawled back into bed. And dozed on and off until around 9am. And got up. And had breakfast. And Jim and I sat around and watched a show for a little bit :)

Lovely, aren't I?
Eventually, I changed clothes, and got ready for yoga. And decided that I had JUST enough time to make it to the commissary for some batteries. Jake had been asking for them for a few day. So off I headed.

Jim decided to stay home and finish up the episode of Doctor Who that he was watching :)
Isn't Boxer a sweet dog! He's not in trouble, just looks a little concerned. hehe
So I went to the commissary, grabbed a few things for my salad for Thursday, grabbed some rechargeable batteries, and headed home. I wanted to get gas and a soda from the gas station, but ran out of time. Had to get Jim to the bus...

Maggie dropped little Jake off at my house (because she had a doctors appointment), and little Jake and Jim and I walked up to the bus stop. And the bus eventually came, and then Kari and I went to yoga. She drove, and when we FINALLY got to Soto gym (like 15-20 minutes across post), we couldn't find the room! Our usual room was empty. And we asked the little man who worked there, and he had us look upstairs (nope) in a few different rooms (nope nope) and down stairs (another nope), and finally after about 15 minutes, we saw a sign that it had been canceled. Nice. I guess no Yoga today... But I'm totally counting that as an excercise, since I put out effort and energy to get there - ha!

We drove back home, and Jake and I had lunch. And started a show. And then Maggie texted, saying that she was done with her appointment, and that we could go to Big Lots like we'd planned. Woohoo!

So I drove on up and met her at Big Lots, and we walked around for about an hour, looking at all the stuff. I like Big Lots. It has fun stuff :) Like sock monkeys. Did you know that they're fun?

And this COOL bar stool. It made me think of my friend from Oregon, Erin Ortmann. Her kitchen is in black and white like this!
We had about 30 minutes left, so we headed across the street to Jewelry Box inside the mall. And found a few fun things :) See, doesn't this look like and AWESOME store???

We headed back to post, because the bus with the little boys was coming soon, and picked them up. Then Maggie dropped me off at my truck, and I headed to Sonic for Happy Hour. I got a Rt 44 DDP, and got small Blue Coconut slushies for all the kids. And headed home.

All the kids were home by 3:30pm, and I napped from 3:30pm to 4:00pm. Well, I tried. It wasn't very successful. hehe. I eventually got up, and started on dinner. I was totally gonna do a work out video, and 5 minutes into it, the kids were fighting so bad, I had to stop. Freakin' kids. hehe. I guess I need to exercise when they're not round....

And then I went to get myself pretty :) Because I'd gotten new hair things at Jewelry Box, and wanted to use them. And new make up too. New Eyeshadow is always fun :)

And then Jim wanted to take picture with me

I'm not normal, you know...

And Joe needed in on the action too...

Funny, huh? hehe. So soon, it was time to pack up and headed to the Church. Jake and Tom had scouts, and Eme had achievement days, and SO DID I! Cause it's my new calling. Activity Days assistant leader. 8-11 year old girls, twice a month. For activities.

I was meeting with the old leader and the new leader at 6:30pm to go over stuff. Tammy is pretty cool. I'm glad that I'm gonna get to work with her.

After our little meeting, we had the meeting for the girls. We read the proclamation on the family. And each of the girls drew a picture to represent their assigned paragraph. It was pretty good. The girls seemed to enjoy it, and enjoy us. I think it'll work out great :t

And then it was time to go. I chatted with Piage and Krystal for a bit, then headed the kids to the truck. And really wanted to have Jake meet with Bishop, because at times, he seems to be struggling. So I tracked down bishop, and he pulled Jake aside and they had a chat.

And though my plan was for it to help Jake, he seemed in an even worse mood when we got home, if that's possible. And it went down hill from there. I know that 13 yr olds suck. I've heard it from all of my friends. And that they'll eventually grow out of it. I think part of Jake's problem is that where a typical child would have a filter on their mouth, he doesn't. The Autism make him just say whatever he's thinking, no matter who it hurts. Anyway, it wasn't a very plesant evening, and I was so wishing that my hubby was home.

But the rest of the day was good. So I'm gonna focus on that. And try and say extra prayers for Jake tonight. Because I don't really know what else to do. I wanna smack him, but I'll pray for him instead.... hehe :) I'm sure he'll be much better when he wakes up in the morning. Taking him out in social situations ALWAYS brings out the worse in that child...

I do hope that tomorrow is a better day; I understand about the 'no filter' - my nearly 21 year old has bipolar disorder, and she also lacks filters on her thoughts and words. I read an interesting article by the author of "Beyond Blue". She too suffers from bipolar, and she says that there are days when she should press "delete" but instead she presses "Send". She describes it as 'verbal diarrhea'. So very apt!
Unfortunately, Jake probably is not able to stop himself once this happens, and sometimes you just need to walk away, and wait until he is in a better place to be able to tell him how much this type of talk hurts you. If he can pinpoint what triggers these outbursts, then he can try to avoid these situations. Knowing friends who deal with children with Autism/Asperger's I understand how frustrating these outbursts can be. I would think that they may be frightening to him, too.
I admire the way you are coping with things. It must be very difficult to deal with all the family situations with your husband away, and I know that you wouldn't want to give him a litany of the kids misdeeds when he calls. I understand that teenagers typically go through difficult times - but Jake has a lot more to deal with than teenage angst. Good luck, and I know that God will guide you through these difficulties.

Girl, you and those sock monkeys totally cracked me up, I scared my husband in the other room with my laughing out LOUD!!! You rock as a Mom, I always think that every time I read your posts - and you rock as a person too, making time for YOU, which is what will get you through. Thanks for being here, and thanks for the awesome word art. You are such a happy part of my day!

I Googled in 'Free Easter Word Art" (actually it said "Free East Word Art". but they set me straight--giggle), and your site was one of my choices. I love it. I am still laughing over your ward Christmas party. I hope that man didn't run anybody away from the church. You remember, just because there are people like him, the church is still true.
I was wondering if sometime you would tell blonds like me, how you make your word art. I try to do stuff like that using Word, and it just doesn't work out for me. I need something like this because I love doing cards and wanting them to look like they have been stamped because I am too cheap to buy the stamp. Any advice you can give me would certainly be appreciated. Thanks so much for sharing your talents. And enjoy your military career. It truly was "20 best years of my life". You will have friends all over the world.

Again, thanks. Deanna
