Reverently and Meekly Now

I'm not gonna lie. Today was hard. Because I had all of the kids all day long. And because I'm PMS-y. And because I was trying to buckle down on the 'ole diet. And who else knows why. It was just hard.

I woke up with a headache. Sigh. But I did sleep in, which was good. Didn't get up until 9 something. The kids were nice and helpful, getting me whatever I needed.

I had to go into the little boys' room for something or another, and I stepped into something squishy. Dog crap. Fresh, warm, dog crap. That was it. That was my breaking point for the day. I was ready to give him back. I was PISSED. I washed and cleaned off my food, and made the little boys clean it up. But it was still a mess. Nasty mess. And the whole room smelled like dog crap. I gagged and dry heaved a bit...

I got the spot steam cleaner, and cleaned up that spot. And looked around the room. And it was SO nasty. It would have taken me HOURS to do with the spot cleaner. Yeah, we needed a bigger carpet cleaner. I could rent one for $20, or I could buy one. And we needed a baby gate for the boys' room. Because I was SO done with the dog crap.

I could feel myself being close to loosing my temper, so I left Tom in charge, the kids all occupied, Jake sleeping, and headed to Walmart. Jim wanted to come with me, but I needed a break. I was in a "does not play well with others" mood.

I got there, and went to the steam cleaners. And found a REALLY big nice one for $400. Didn't wanna pay that much. Another cool one that cost $250. Then one that I really liked that was $199. Of course, they were out of that one. Then there was one for $150 and one for $120. I liked the $150 one the best.

I went to the baby isle, and looked at gates. They had a TON of wooden ones, but I haven't had very good luck with those in the past. Besides, I wanted a baby gate that my 5 year old could easily use. Because it wasn't for him, it was for the dog. I found a metal one that was just like the one on the stairs that Terra gave me. Sweet :)

I found a valance for my kitchen window, and a few others things that I "needed". Retail therapy, you know. Actually, my cart was TOTALLY full ,but I only had a few items in there. That vacuum and baby gate filled it up. hehe. So it felt like I had a ton of stuff, but I didn't really :)

I paid, and headed out. And was still feeling pissy. Crap. My retail therapy didn't help so much. I got home, and Jake was awake. And there was some squabbling going on. Sigh. I bought frozen corn dogs for the kids, and they were SO excited about it.

I hung up the valance in the kitchen
And installed the baby gate in the boys' doorway
And hung up these blinds. We had a Valentine's day party 2 years ago, and one of the little girls who came TRASHED it. And I JUST now got around to replacing it. hehe. It only cost me $3.98.... Should have done that a long time ago, huh?
Joe and Jim wanted to paint. I had a few canvas in the hutch that weren't gonna be used anytime soon, so I let them have it. And they made SUCH nice paintings! I'm gonna hang them up in their bedroom.

This one is Jims.
And this one is Joes. He just kept painting and painting and painting until the whole canvas was brown... Oops. Maybe tomorrow he can paint in white a scene or something?
I ate some yogurt for lunch, then helped the little boys clean their room. And yeah, there was a lot of yelling involved. By me. I was in a mood. It was SO messy. I truly don't understand why/how it gets that way. The amount of pure trash that I pulled out of that room was truly pathetic.

I got a broom, and swept (yup, it was THAT bad) all the stuff into a pile, and got the little boys to clean it up. And it took forever. But finally, it was done. I grabbed the vacuum cleaner (the Kirby), and vacuumed the entire room. It was cleaner, but SUPER stinky.

Jake and I assembled the steam cleaner, and got it ready to work. I moved the little kids' bed, and started. It worked pretty good at cleaning the carpet. Not necessarily at removing the stains. There's only so much you can do for Harty sized stains. Something BRIGHT pink was all over the floor. And yeah, that wasn't coming up.

The little attachment do-hickey thing was really good. I could scrub the nasty parts as hard as I wanted. And really, it was good for my "pissy-ness". hehe. To take some of my frustrations/hormones out on the carpet.

I had to switch the water 4 times, and refill the cleaner twice. The room was still a little wet, so we gated it, and left it alone.

And yeah, their room looked pretty good. The rest of the house? Yeah, not so much. I was so busy with the bedroom, that I wasn't watching what the other kids were doing. And the house was freakin' trashed. SO not cool.

I had the kids do their chores, and after about 30 minutes, it looked a little better. Jim and I played in the pool for a little while, and I baked Oatmeal Cranberry Chocolate chip cookies (screw the diet). SO tasty! Then I sat down for a little Jack Bauer and season 5 of 24. Oh yeah! This one was gonna be FABULOUS! I could tell from the first 10 minutes!

I turned it off around dinner time, and made cheeseburgers on the grill for the kids. And they were freakin' awesome! Maybe it's because I'd been eating meal bars for too long? I don't know, but we all had a double cheeseburger on bread. It was greasy, and medium rare, and I was in HEAVEN. JUST what I needed :)

I took a nice, hot bath, and tried to relax. But it wasn't working for me...

The kids were playing computers and Wii, and I figured out how to get Netflix hooked up on the Wii. Pretty cool, if you ask me! We started to watch some TV, and Jake was being mean. And rude. And disrespectful. And I couldn't take it any longer. He got banned from electronics for the day, and was super rude about it. Then kept going over to other people electronics, and hanging with them. So I had to take them away from everyone.

And then they all decided to go in the pool. As long as they played nicely, I didn't care. They were in the pool for about an hour before Jake was too naughty and got kicked out. I chatted with my mom on the phone while the kids were in the pool. She'd just got back from a weeks worth of church Girls Camp. LOVE girls camp :)

We got off the phone, and I started cleaning the kitchen. I "sharked" the floor, and wiped down the counters. Jake came and helped me once he got kicked out of the pool. That child baffles me sometimes. He won't do a thing I tell him to, and is rude, and hateful. But can be so sweet and helpful at random times. He asked several times during the day if he was being the most well behaved, and then how my day was going, and if I was feeling ok. I know he cares. I know, somewhere in there, he wants people to like him. And to show them that he cares about them.

I guess I need to buckle down and call about some therapy for him next week. I'm just kinda at a loss as to where to start. The Autism support group leader gave me the name of a therapist that she uses for her son, and I have her number. I need to call her. Dr Nance, I think. And I need to find out about ABA therapy. But I have to get some kind of supplemental insurance thingy going before that. Terra said that her's is about $50 a month. I'll pay that!

I put the little boys to bed at 8:30pm, and their room smelled again. Like nasty mop water... Hmmm, now there was a new yucky smell in there... I put a Scentsy burner in there, and threatened them within an inch of their lives NOT to touch it.

For those of you with Scentsy stuff, do your kids mess with it? Mine won't leave them alone. I find all sorts of stuff coated in wax. Pennies, toys, pencils. My kids suck sometimes....

Jake and Tom and Eme went to bed at 9:30 (yikes! gonna be tired in the morning for church), and I started blogging. It's a little after 10pm, and I'm done here. Gonna finish up with a few more 24's, then hit the sack. I should sleep well tonight :)

I'm not feeling nearly as hormonal now as I did earlier in the day. That's a good thing. Hopefully mother nature will kick in, and I'll go back to my happy go lucky self. The "raging" mom isn't working so well for me...
