God Opens a Window

Well, I did get some unpacking done yesterday. I also finished off the Twilight series, and watched Twilight twice. Yes, I was doing other things while it was on, but it was ON! hehehe. Eme's room is now unpacked and wonderul. I even hung curtains. It looked fabulous :)

I unpacked my closet today, and have all my clothes back. Sure, most of them don't fit because I've been eating WAY too much, but they're there, hanging in place, and patiently waiting for me to follow my diet so they can come out and "play" again. I miss my skinny clothes (but I guess not as much as I like the food.......I'll have to work on that one......)

So, I'm cheap. I'll just admit it. I hate spending money on things. Especially hair cuts. I'll get my hair cut, then rather than go back, when it starts to grow out, I'll just come up with a new hairstyle. Seriously. So, I've been wearing it in a bandana recently, because I haven't taken the time to fix it. Yes, I'm lazy too - ROFL!!! WELL, yesterday, I actually showered, fixed my hair, put on make up, and put on decent clothes. Yes, that is blog worthy!

Anway, when the big kids got home from school, they were SO impressed. "Wow, Mom!" they said. "Your hair is SO pretty!". OK, kids. Now your gonna give me a complex. So was it REALLY that bad before, that you're commenting on how good it is now - hehehe. I took a pic of the "new" hair (well, really just new style, since I didn't get it cut (but I did color it - yeah, started graying when I was 21)). What do ya think???

So I hear that Ft. Bliss is having a post wide garage sale today. I think I"ll wander my neighborhood and see if I can find any good deals. I love garage sales, but not necessarily taking small children to them. We'll see how brave I'm feeling.

Jacob is going to a school thing today at 9, and Tom was invited to a neighbor kids' b-day party at 4. I guess that means I'm gonna have to come up with some sort of present between now and then. Sigh.

You know, sometimes when I post my WordArt on here, it's SUPER tiny, and hard to read. Well, today is NOT that day - hehehe. Look how HUGE it is! Oh well, the better to read, I guess :) This wordArt request is from Joyce. And to the rest of you with requests out there, I'm sorry it's taken so long. I'm still getting set up, after having moved so many times this year. This is place #3 in 2009 to have lived. Sigh. Crazy times :)

Anyway, click on the links below to go to my accounts to download the PNG file, and leave some love if you like my work. Thanks!

So Eme woke up yesterday feeling sick. I think she had a fever, and needed her inhalor. Unfortunately, it was out. So, I called the Army clinic, and their next appointment as on the 24th. Well, that was WAY too far off. They said either call Dial a Nurse and ask about options, or go to the ER. Well, I know that it wasn't an emergency, so I didn't need the ER, so I called the Dail A Nurse.

She got Eme all set up with a non-army urgent care visit, and after we got the other kids off to school, we headed off to urgent care. She got a perscription for Alburterol, and some perscription cough syrup, and an antibiotic. She had a nasty red throat, but no white spots. But, because of her bout with Post Strep Reactive Arthritis, they gave her an antibiotic. Better safe than sorry.

We headed off to Wal-Mart to get the perscriptions filled. We decided to go to the Wal-Mart across town where we used to live, so that we could check and see if the Easter Bunny pics were in. But first, to the pharmacy. 1 hour wait. Holy crap! That was a long time to kill. So, we got our Easter pictures, and walked around for a bit, and paid, and it was still only 30 minutes. So, we drove to the kids' old school, and dropped off Jacobs cello that he had borrowed. Then, back to Wal-Mart.

Oh yeah, here's the Easter Bunny Pictures. That's one of the many things that I LOVE about Wal-Mart. Near some holidays, their photo department takes pictures of your kids, for free, and you just come back in and look through the giant stack of photos they've developed, and take yours. Not too bad, for free :) Except that Joe wanted NOTHING to do with the giant, freaky, talking rabbit. Honestly, can't say that I blame the poor kid.

It had been 1 hour 2 minutes, so we went back to the pharmacy. I waited in line (you KNOW that the line at the pharmacy is ALWAYS packed), and when we got to the front, she said that we needed to go back and talk to the "drop off" window again. Dang. So, we head back over, and the girl at the window said that it would be a few more minutes.

So, since I could wait for a few more minutes, we stood near the front, with the pharmacy people in sight. Jimmy wasn't having it. He cried, and tired to run away, and screamed. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. 15 minutes later, and we had our perscriptions. I wasn't happy. Poor Jim. He was good for SO long, and that last 15 minutes was his unhinging. That wasn't nice of the pharmacy people, to make us wait (ok, so I know that sometimes things happen, but it didn't seem nice at the time :).

After getting a quick bite to eat (I really need to stop being out and about during the day), we headed back to Eme's school. She was feeling much better after getting some medicine in her system (but mostly after getting her inhalor - must not be fun to not breath deeply). She didn't want to miss school. She's SO her mother's child - hehehe. I hated to miss school too. I was afraid I'd miss something important. I know, I was a nerd. I admit it :)

The cafeteria lady had been trying to get ahold of me all week, and I finally stopped by to see her. I wasn't sure what she wanted to talk to me about, but didn't really feel like confrontation. hehehe. So, I went and talked with her. She just wanted to let me know that we'd been approved for free lunches, and that she wanted to give my check for 3 kids, 5 days of lunches back, and to have me write one for just 1 day worth of lunches. OK, so that was GOOD news. 4 dollars instead of 25. Much nicer. But even better, free lunches for the rest of the school year. That'll help.

When we finally got home, Jimmy and I spent the rest of the afternoon organizing his room. We got all of the boxes unpacked, and it organized how I liked it. He seemed SO excited to get his toys back. Cute little thing.

I also went through Jake and Tom's room, and organized a little bit. I got some of the bigger boxes unpacked (the clothes), and we can get in the closet again. Sure, their beds are full of junk, but the closet is accessible (ROFL!!!). I guess it's their responsibility to get their rooms cleaned :)

After the big kids got home, we did homework, had dinner, and relaxed for a while. We watched Survivor together, then I chatted with Captain America for a few minutes, and the after the little kids went to bed, the big kids and I watched Harpers Island. I sure do love a good scary movie/story. And I only had to have the boys cover their heads with their blankets once, or was that twice.

Thank goodness today is Friday. I'm looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday. I just need to make sure that I get my curtains hung in my room today, so that I don't automatically wake up at the crack of dawn - LOL!

I figured that since I had SO many "attitude" wordarts for sale this week, I'd make an "attitude" wordart for you all as a freebee. And, I SO fits me. hehehe. My other saying is "Just smile and nod'. ROFL! You don't even know how often I do that - hehehe.

You Are The World

I had some ladies from Church (Relief Society presidency) come and visit me yesterday. It was nice having people over :) It'd been a while since I had "grown-up" interaction - hehehe. After they left, Jimmy and I went "to town". I bought some bar stools for my kitchen, a microwave (yeah, I forgot that we left ours in Ohio when we moved - dang!), and the Twilight books.

Doesn't sound like that big of an afternoon, but it was a TON of driving around. We left the house at about 11 am. First we drove to the post office on post to check if our mailbox keys were done (they were not) and drop off my State Taxes, then back across post, and over to Barnes and Nobles to check on Twilight books (yeah, I'm not spending $83 on 4 books - that's crazy). Then, drive some more to Wal-Mart. But they didn't have all 4 books, only 3, so across town again to the other Wal-Mart to look for book 3. 1/2 way home I realized that I forgot to pick up our pictures at Wal-Mart (dang, that means another trip). Then, drive to Big Lots to look for shower curtain stuff, then to another store near there, that has inexpensive clothes. Jacob can wear kakhi/blue slacks/short and green/white polo shirt. I found green polos at this store for $1.99 each. Not too bad, eh? And, I found shower curtains for $1.99. I like 'em.

By that time, it was 2:30. Jimmy and I got back home, and put away all of the stuff we bought. We straightened up the house a little bit, and I sat down to design. I got 4 WordArt packs designed, and packaged up. The big kids got home from school, and we just hung out for a while.

We had dinner at 5, and I'm not sure what we did next, but all of a sudden, it was 7:30, and we were missing Cub Scouts. I gathered up everyone REALLY fast, and we headed out the door. I got a little lost, but finally found where I was going - hehehe. I met a few ladies from my neighborhood even. They were REALLY cool :) I'm looking forward to making a few friends :) Friends are good. The one lady just lives right down the same street we live on. How cool is that :) hehehehe.

And next week, I'm doing Tom's den meeting for Cub Scouts. They didn't really have anything going on last night at Scouts. Of course, it could be because Tom's group and Jacob's group didn't even have a leader. I'll step up and help.

I'm really liking having a hard copy of Twilight. Now I can take it and read it outside. I think Jimmy and I will go to the park today, and I'll read, and he can play, and we'll get some outside time :) Sounds like a plan. That, and we also need to go return his cello. Sigh. I guess I'll pick up my pictures while I'm on that side of town. I think I need a list so I don't forget everything I'm supposed to do - LOL!

This WordArt request is from Kim. I think I may have done this one before, but not like this :) I like how it turned out :) Click on the links below to go to my accounts to download the PNG file, and leave some love if you like my work :)

Dream Big

I got quite a bit of unpacking done yesterday. I got the kitchen completely unpacked and organized. That felt good! Now I can cook, and have all of my tools at my disposal. Ahhhhh. What a GREAT feeling :)

I also unpacked the books. I didn't realize I had so many. Where did they ALL come from? And when am I EVER gonna have time to read them all. hehehe. We have ALL sorts of books. Reference books, kid books, history books, art books, novels, you name it, we have a little bit of it. We could be our own lending library - hehehe.

I read some more in the last Twilight book, and decided that I was gonna purchase the box set from Amazon today when my paycheck came in. Right now, I just have a digital copy of the books, which is a bit inconvenient. I'd like to be able to take it around with me. Or read outside. Can't see the laptop screen outside - hehehe. Jacob is bugging me to get them too, since he can only read it on his computer, in the living room, on a metal folding chair. Laying in bed and reading really is better :) I think so, anyway.

Jimmy and I walked to the park briefly today, but since there wasn't any other kids around, he didn't want to stay long. He did play in our backyard for quite a while today, though. I just LOVE our backyard. It's wonderful :)

The kids walked themselves to school yesterday. They did such a great job :) And, I met them in the truck on the post side of the school. Now that I know they can meet up together, and get to the gate, I know they can walk the rest of the way home. Good job, kids! I"m proud of you :)

And, it's tax day. Don't forget to turn them in!!! I've already filed Federal and Ohio, but I need to send in the Oregon one with my payment. We owed $52 this year. Sigh. Dang Oregon - hehehe. SO, just a friendly reminder, turn in your taxes :)

WordArt Wednesday Week 40. Dang, that's how long it takes to have a kid - hehehe. Instead, you get 40 WordArts from me. OK, I know, not anywhere near comparable. Hehehe. But this one IS pretty cool. I got an email from Michelle about a font, and she had this saying as her signature. I just LOVED it so much, I made a WordArt out of it :)

Click HERE to go to Scraporchard's gallery to pick up the zip file, and just remember, you need to be signed into the gallery in order to pick up the file :) Thanks!

Get Lucky

Yesterday started off early. We were up at 6:30am, and getting ready for school. I drove the kids up to school to get them registered at about 7:20am. The middle school said that the registar didn't get there until 8, so to go to the elementary school first. We took the papers to the office, and found out who the kids' teachers were. Tom was SUPER excited because he got a man teacher. He's never had one before. He has Mr. Gonzales for the 1st half of the day, and a SUPER nice lady teacher the 2nd half. I liked her. We could be friends, I bet. She's my kind of person :)

It took a while to track down all of the teachers/classrooms, but by 8:15, we were headed off to the middle school. Lucikly, they're right next to each other. It was a pain to get Jacob registered. Back and forth and back and forth from one office to the next. AND, he needed a Counselor to set up his schedule, and they were both gone for the day. By 8;45, I had to get back to the house for the movers, but luckily they were almost done processing Jacob. I left him there, at the office, and headed for home. Jimmy had definitely had enough of registering kids at school. There's only so much FUN a 3 year old can handle.

Woohoo!!! I've got all my stuff back :) Granted, it's all in boxes, but, IT'S BACK!!! The movers got here yesterday at about 9:45. They worked fast and furiously all day, and were done by around 2pm. Not bad for a day of work. All my stuff, unloaded to the correct rooms. And I didn't even have to do anything. Just direct where to put the boxes. Nice. I could get used to this! I still remember moves past, having to carry something WAY too heavy for me (like helping Captain America carry the washing machine, or a lawn mower, or an eliptical), and breaking down in tears, because it was WAY too heavy for me. Ha! None of that THIS time! Thank you, Army movers! You're my NEW heroes!!!

Here's a pic of my dining room. See the hutch on the far wall, and all of my bookshelves. And my big table with chairs. I love my books, and can't wait to get them all out on the shelves :)

And here's my living room. We got the couches arranged, and the TV hooked up. I know, we watch too much TV. Everyone has their "thing" they struggle with. I guess one of mine is too much TV :) Still, better than some things.....

After the movers left, Jimmy and I headed out to pick up the kids from school. I figured that, rather than drive an get them, I should walk there, and show them how to walk home. That's old saying "give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime". Well, I'm teaching my kids to fish. Plus, I don't wanna have to come and pick them up each day, when it's really not that far to walk. It'll take them about 15-20 minutes. At their pace. I could do it in 8-10. But then, I'm not a kindergartener. hehehe.

So I picked up Joe, and Jake met up with me at the Elementary school too. He decided he didn't really know where we lived, and knew I'd be at the little kids school to get them. We went to find Eme, and Tom was with her. Eme's teacher showed us where the gate was to get back onto post. Behind the school, the fence of the school borders post. The MP's open the gate before/after school, so the kids can get in, and don't have to walk on the road. I showed them where to meet each other, and where exactly to go. Today after school, I'm gonna meet them at the gate, just to be sure they know what they're doing. Then, tomorrow, they're on their own. hehehe.

After school, we headed out to Wal-Mart. We were out of food, and needed some school supplies (luckily, not too many - just some crayons, glue, and a locker lock). We got some apples, some cheese, some veggies, some bread, some cereal, and some milk. That should get us through for a while. Payday is on Wednesday, and I"ll make up a better menu then.

Since it was 4:30, and we were TOTALLY out of food at the house, and by the time I bought something, brought it home, and cooked it, it would be WAY too late for dinner, we ate at McDonalds. I hate doing that. But, such is life when you move. Here are a few pics from dinner.

This one is HILARIOUS! But you've gotta know the backstory. So, we're at McDonalds inside of Wal-Mart, and the table only seats 4 people. Well, we have 6. So, Jimmy and Joe get to sit inside the shopping cart (did you know people in the south East call them Buggies??? Weird, eh?) to eat their meal. I ordered the food, and we waited. It took about 5 minutes for the order to be ready (slow, for McDonlads), and Jimmy was STARVING. At one point, I look over, and his poor little darling face is cradled in his hands, and his little eyes look up at me, and she says "I give up". Poor thing! I just HAD to snap a picture. He was SO done waiting for his food. And, he ate ALL of his fries, his burger, and his milk. Usually he just plays with it, so I knew that he was really hungry.

When we got back home, I unpacked a few boxes, but frankly, I was exhausted. Watching the movers move things around really wore me out - LOL! No, but I think that the trip to Wal-Mart did. The kids argued and fought the WHOLE time. Even the ones that are typically well behaved. Not the best of Wal-Mart trips. Oh well. Next time, I'm going when I only have 1 kid with me.

OK, first off, get your mind out of the gutter (ROFL!!!!). Get lucky, as in, I'm lucky to have you. Not the other thing......geesh! This is SO a PG blog - LOL! What kinda girl do you think I am??? Just because I'm in love with Edward (and maybe the Doctor (Dr Who)), and married, um, yeah. Well, back to this request - hehehe. This request is from Amy, in Southern Ohio. Who, by the way, lives right oustide the town that I lived when we lived in Ohio in 2008. Small world, eh? We TOTALLY could have seen each other at Wal-Mart and never even known (see, I manage to work-in Wal-Mart ALL the time)

Jungle

So, how was everyone's Easter Sunday??? We got to go to our new Ward. It's a good thing we left for church early, because I got lost, but ended up eventually finding it. I'll get the hang of El Paso one of these days. I guess I wasn't so much lost, as I couldn't find the right street. That's a HUGE difference. hehehe.

The Ward seemed very friendly. The actual building was pretty cool. It was built around 1930, and was AWESOME. It had stained glass, and a bell tower, and was 2 stories. I guess it was one of the first original churchs built when El Paso was founded. Or something like that. Captain America could tell you the story. If he were here... Sniff. Sniff.

I've gotta say, though, it was the NOISEST Ward I've ever been in. And I've been in some noisey ones. From what I could see from where I was sitting, it appeared that 75% of the people had little kids. And even if everyones kids only made 3 noises during the whole of church, that's still a LOT of noise. Because of the sheer volume of kids - hehehe. And there was a lady 3 rows in front of us that had a son (maybe 6 or 7) who refused to sit quietly (I didn't see a dad, she was sitting by herself with 4 kids). I think the poor little guy must have had something "special" about him. The poor mom was struggling. She had 3 other little ones besides the "loud" one. About 1/2 way through, some nice man came and asked if he could help, and took out the boy. I'm glad that someone came to help her. I've been there/done that before. I'm sure she was grateful for the helping hand :)

So, I'm assuming that the program was good, but frankly, it was really hard to hear. But, the plus is that it made my kids look like angels - ROFL!!! See, you should always look for the good, in any situation - hehehe.

The kids enjoyed their Primary classes. Even Jimmy liked his. He was telling me that he didn't want to be a Sunbeam (turning 4 yrs old class), but wanted to go back to the nursery (18 months - 3 yrs). After church, he said he liked his class, and would stay in there. Hehehe, good thing, because he wasn't going back to nursery - LOL.

We spent a nice, relaxing day at home. No computer or video games on Sunday, so I didn't have to hear arguments about who's turn it was on the computer. Geesh! I hate those fights :) We did watch almost all of season 4 of Doctor Who. We brought out our pillows and sleeping bags (since everything else is on the moving truck) and laid on the Living Room floor and watched TV. It was a great time! Can't beat a good Doctor Who marathon :) (I love you, David Tennent (Dr. Who), but don't tell Captain America)

We were able to scrounge enough stuff out of the little food I packed before the movers packed the rest up, to make lunch and dinner. We ended up with Taco Mac N Cheese (which we renamed El Taco Maco - ROFL!), and pancakes for dinner. I need to go shopping after the movers leave. My cupboards are bare, just like old mother hubbord - hehehe.

I'm going at 7:30 am today to try and get the kids registered before the movers get here at 9am. Hopefully the school will let the kids start today. If not, I'll just have a house full of kids, and movers, and boxes. Sigh. They should let them. I took all the paperwork home and completely filled it out. I even made photocopies of my lease, SS cards, Birth certificiates, shot records, my ID. You name it, it's filled out and photocopied. hehehe. So, keep your fingers crossed for me :)

This request is from Angela. She's making invites to her 3 year olds B-day party. I thought this WordArt would also be good on pics of kids playing in the great outdoors. In trees, in tall grass, in the bushes. You name it, my kids are in it when it comes to playing outside - LOL!

Savior's Resurrection

Can I just say that I'm in LOVE with my new house??? hehehe. Click HERE to go to my personal blog to check out a few pics of it :) It's SO pretty!

So the cable guy came yesterday morning to hook up my internet. No more "sharning/borrowing" from the neighbors - LOL! He came at 9am, and was done by 9:30. Speedy! After that, we just kinda hung out, and took it easy. I unpaced a few boxes, and was online for a little while.

At 11:45, we decided to go to the Ft. Bliss Egg hunt. It started at noon, and was at Biggs park. I didn't know where that was, so I called the phone number for it. The girl didn't seem to know how to give me directions to get there. No wonder I got lost - LOL! Finally, at 12:30, we ended up at Biggs Park. Jim had missed the 1-3 year old egg hunt, but we decided to just let him jump in with the older kids.

As we were getting out of the truck, I went to shut the door, and cracked Jimmy across the head with the door. Nice. Take out my own kid. I kissed his head real quick, and we headed off to the egg hunt. Only later did I notice the big bump and indent on his poor noggin. Nice. Way to go, Mom. Not only did I leave a mark that showed, but I left it on his HEAD. The key is to leave the marks where no one can see them - hehehe (TOTALLY kidding, don't call CSD on me :)

They had a TON of activities for the kids, but just REALLY long lines. WAY too many people - hehehe. Tom, Eme, and Joe colored pictures for a coloring contest, and we waited in line for a snow cone. That took the first 1/2 hour. Then, we went to the 4-7 Egg hunt. All the kids were lined up around the perimeter, and like 5 minutes before it was supposed to start, someone started. Well, it was like trying to hold back the tide. EVERYONE went, and the hunt was on. Seriously, like 30 seconds, and it was over. Jimmy cried the WHOLE time. WAY too much mass confusion for him to join in. Eme and Joe both gave him one of their eggs. hehehe.

We went back to the activities, and played with the chalk, and stood in line for face painting. Seriously, like 40 minutes in line. Yeah, that was fun. 5 kids (3 of which didn't want their faces painted), standing right next to countless other parents in the same boat. Well, minus a few kids. I was the only mom with 5 kids there that I noticed. hehehe. Not too many others out there like me - hehehe. That might be a good thing - LMBO!!

By the time we got to the front of the line, Jacob had changed his mind, and DID want his face painted. He got tiger face paint, Eme got cat wiskers, and Tom got a scratch down his forehead/eye,/cheek. Too funny.

By then, it was only 15 minutes until the 8 and over egg hunt, so we headed back out to the field. Well, 10 minutes before egg hunt time, the crowd surged again, and the egg hunt was on. Jake and Tom both got about 7 eggs, and they were happy.

We went to Burger King for lunch, since we still don't have much food in the house. I really don't know what we're gonna do today (Sunday). We have 3/4 of a loaf of bread, 3 ramen noodles, a dozen eggs, 4 apples, peanut butter, some flour/sugar/pancake mix, frozen ground turkey, and microwave popcorn (but no microwave). We don't shop on Sunday, so we ought to have a WONDERFUL Easter dinner - hehehe. Ground turkey and popcorn, anyone???

Anyway, tangent :) Burger King had a deal going where if you buy a regular meal, you can get Kids Meals for 99 cents. That was a GREAT deal :) I got a Whopper meal (my absolute favorite burger!!) and the kids all got Kids meals. With Sponge Bob toys. Oh joy. He's not my favorite cartoon. I'm not big into the "smart mouth" cartoons, as I like to call them. BUT, my kids thought they were great. hehehe.

We came home, and spent the rest of the day there. Seemed like we had 1/2 the neighborhood in our house all afternoon. But it was good. The neighbors we share a driveway with, their kids were over playing. Their 4th grade boy took Joe (5) over to the neighbors we share a backyard fence with's back yard to play. He had a BLAST.

Eme and the little girl from next door hit it off, and spent the day in Eme's room. Some other kid from across the street played a lot too. I always wanted to have "the fun house". You know, the one that all the kids wanted to come over and play at. Because the mom and dad were nice, and fun, and seemed to want to have you there.

I watched the new Doctor Who Easter Special today! Fabulous, as alwasys!!! The chicky on there this time was the same girl who starred in the new NBC show (was it NBC???) "Bionic Woman". I looked it up on IMDB later, and found it was her. I knew I recognized her from somewhere. Didn't realize she was British :)

By 7:30, I was ready to put kids to bed, and kicked everyone (nicely) out - hehehe. Jake and I read Twilight (digital copies) for a while, and I chatted withCaptain America and my Mom. I posted pics to my blog (woohoo!!!), and read a bit more. All in all, it was a great day :)

I thought long and hard about the WordArt that I wanted to share today. I wanted to do something Easter themed, but I didn't want to do something Easter Bunny themed. Know what I mean? Not that the Easter Bunny is bad. I LOVE the Easter bunny. In fact, in our house, we do the Easter bunny on Saturday morning, and get all of the fun out of the way early. I want to be able to teach my kids the real reason for Easter on the Sabbath.

So, I hope that you find this Easter message as uplifting and encouraging as I did :) Click on the links below to go to my accounts to download the PNG file, and leave some love if you like my work. And, HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!
