Poor Little Thing

OK, so because of technical difficulties, I didn't get my WordArt out in the Scrapbookgraphics newsletter this week :) Oops. BUT, here it is now! I hope you all like it :) Click HERE to go to my store. It's only $2.00 per pack this week.

Morning, people :) Hope your day was great! Mine started VERY early. At 5:12am Captain America sat up in bed, woke me up, and wanted to know what time we were supposed to get up. 5:30am, I assured him. hehehe. I laid in bed for a few more minutes, then got up. At least I didn't get startled awake by an alarm clock. I don't like that - hehehe.

So I got up, threw on some clothes, brushed my teeth, put in my contacts, reapplied some of my make up, got my hair fixed, had breakfast, and went to get Jimmy ready. All he needed was shoes. hehehe. He was kinda excited about his big day. Yeah, he'd be regretting that later...

So we got all ready, loaded in the car, and Captain America drove us to the Surgery Center on the West side of town. We got there with 2 minutes to spare. 6:30am.

Poor kids was sleepy

We signed in, and sat for a while. They would only let one of us go back at a time pre-op, so I took the first shift. We filled out some papers, then Jimmy put on his hospital jammies, then he went to a waiting room and played for a while. Here he is with his Whale from the garage sale last weekend. And his nice jammies :)

And him in the waiting room.
And me, waiting with Jimmy
Then he wanted his dad, so we switched off. I read some scriptures, then checked emails and texted for a while, then read my book for a bit. Finally, Captain America texted saying Jim wanted another switch off. I got back there just as they were taking him away. I gave him a big hug and a kiss, then off he went with the nurse. Sob...

Captain America and I went back out to the everyone waiting room, and sat for a while. We chatted, and passed the LONG 30 minutes he was in surgery. We went to the lobby and ate our apples and crackers and drank some soda for a morning snack. Finally, the doctor came out.

He said that surgery went VERY well. Thank goodness. I'd been anxious about it for about 24 hours. The doctor said he was really glad that we'd decided to do the surgery. He said that Jimmy had some bad scaring on his Tonsils, like he'd had a bad case of tonsillitis. Yeah, he's never had that that we knew of.... The child must be tougher than we thought! POOR little guy.

They removed the tonsils and the adenoids. And then they brought us back to the recovery room. He was still sedated when we got back there.

So they took him off the meds, and about 5 minutes later he started to come to. And he wasn't happy. Pissed off is a better word. And still groggy. Poor little man. He kept being upset and sad, then he'd drop back off to sleep.

Here's Captain America with Jim
And me with Jim
Finally, about 30 minutes later, the nurse wanted him to wake up. So we woke him up. And he was finally ready to wake up. No more crying. He had some water, and a popsicle, and he was almost himself. We gave him his present (Hot Wheels), and he was SO happy :) Sore, but happy. And a little out of it, but mostly there :)

After the popsicle, we signed release papers, dressed him, and loaded him up in the wheel chair, and headed home. We headed home a little before 11am.

We stopped at Circle K on the way home for a soda and a slushie, then home for Jim and Captain America. I dropped them off, and continued on to the Hospital to fill his prescription. Someone on my facebook account said it would be a good idea to get the prescription filled BEFORE the surgery. Yeah, that would make too much sense, and be TOO easy. hehehe.

I was #183 in line at the army hospital. They were serving #162. Sigh. So I facebooked, and read my book, and emailed, and texted. And killed time. FINALLY they called me, and I got his scripts filled. And headed home.

Kids had eaten, and Captain America headed back to work. I gave Jimmy his drugs at around 1pm. He ate about 8 Popsicle. Dang, child! Included in that count was 2 push pops and a yogurt, too. I need to remember to give him some gum. The nurse recommended that to help with saliva.

Here's Jimmy before he dropped off to sleep. Tylenol with Codine will do that to ya :)

Once he was good and asleep, I left Maddie in charge, and headed to the Commissary for some groceries. It's shopping day, but I didn't wanna be gone for a full shopping day, so I just got 1/2 a weeks worth of groceries. At least I hope it was 1/2 a week. It was 1/2 my weekly budget - LOL. I got Popsicles and apple juice and applesauce and jello for Jimmy.

And here's how I found him when I got home. You know the child is really asleep when the hand goes down the pants. Typical male. ROFL!

And me sitting on the couch snuggling with him.
Captain America came home at around 4:45pm, and hung for a little while. Hilary's family brought us dinner, and it was WONDERFUL! Enchiladas and salad and chicken and homemade cookies and Popsicles. OMGosh, it was SO good. AND it was some food I could eat. Thanks, girl! It was sweet, because her girls had made cards for Jimmy. He was out of it, and didn't really know what was going on, but I'm sure he'll like it once he's feeling better :)

Captain America left for his Hail and Farewell meeting at around 5:30pm, and should be home around 8:30pm. When Jimmy went back to sleep again, I plugged my computer into my TV, and worked on my store. And started blogging. Captain America and I and Jimmy are gonna watch a movie tonight for Date Night, and I wanted to be all done with my work before he gets home. See how good I am? hehehe.

Dump Truck

OK, so my mom didn't like that I didn't have pictures on this yesterday, so I have a TON for her today :) Here ya go, mom :)

Morning, everyone :) Hope your day was grand! We had a good one :) Spent the morning at home. I took over the TV, and designed for a few hours, and got my stuff for next week all done. Well, most of it. I have one more pack left to design.

And that took most of the morning. Maddie and her girls went to Walmart and McDonalds, and my kids and I had lunch at home. Not enough of them wanted to go to free lunch, so we did bologna sandwiches here. It was easier for me :)

After lunchtime, Maddie and her girls came back, and Captain America came for lunch at around noon-ish. At around 2pm, Maddie and I and Lily and Ella headed out to go thrift store shopping on the East side. We left the boys at home to do, um, boy stuff - hehehe.

First stop was Goodwill. I found a brown sweater thingy, and a black shirt, and a teal/brown skirt. Next store was Big Lots (right next door). I like Big Lots. Didn't buy anything, but had fun walking around.

Next, we went to Fallas Paredes on Zaragoza. Looked around for a little while, then Maddie noticed that there was a Savers in the same shopping complex. I hadn't ever been there. I thought it was a food store, but it's a THRIFT store! Score!

Captain America met us at Fallas (he got off early for family day), and we all shopped together. It was a fun trip. I got a few pair of jeans for $2.50 and $3.00. Captain America got a $3 Sunday suit jacket, and we got a few books. Can't go wrong with books. Here's a few pics of us at Savers.

Eme at the checkout
Me. Any tag with silver was 50% off today :) Woohoo!

Maddie and I, but since I don't aim well, mostly Maddie - hehehe
Captain America
Jake had put the breakfast casserole I got ready at lunch in the oven while we were at Savers, and it was ALL ready when we got home. Woohoo!

We fed the missionaries at 6pm, but they were late (6:30pm), so we ate without them, and they were gone by 6:50pm. When they left, we headed to McDonalds for ice cream and playland.

Here's a few pics from our trip:

I'm not sure what she's doing, but it looks like she's trying to strangle herself - ROFL!

Yeah, Jake did NOT want his picture taken.

Me at the slide
So I decided to give the playland a whirl. Do you ever go and play with your kids inside the thing? Yeah, seemed like a good idea at the bottom. As I snaked and wound and climbed further and further and further from the ground, it seemed like less and less and less of a good idea.

I really almost started to panic. It was FREAKY. I was afraid I was gonna fall through the plastic and come crashing down to my death. I survived, but just barely... I helped that I had a slew of little kids behind me, waiting on my to move myself up the contraption. See how HIGH it is???

SO, I decided to take a video on the way down to document my journey. hehehe. And it TOTALLY shocked me all the way down - LOL! OUCH! You can hear me screaming all the way down - hehehe.

And a few group shots

So we headed home at around 8pm, put the little kids in the house, and headed to Leslie's house to get her bunk beds (she's just one house away). They're moving to Hawaii in Dec/Jan, and wanted to get rid of the bunk beds now. And we were HAPPY to take them off of their hands. So I visited with Leslie, and Jake and Tom and Hunter and Braxton and Captain America and John moved the beds from their living room to our garage. I hadn't seen Leslie since her surgery, and she was looking GREAT! Almost 20 lbs down :)

We came back home, and it was time for the kids to get hair cuts. Well, the boys, anyway. I plugged my computer into the TV, and started blogging, and Captain America started cutting. Here's a few pics of the boys. Everyone seems to be in such pain... ha!

Jake

So here it is, 10pm, and I'm ready for bed. Got my blogging and designing done. I've gotta get up at the butt crack of dawn tomorrow. Jimmy has his tonsil surgery at 6:30am on the West Side. I don't even wanna think about how early that means I have to get up..... Pray for him :)

Helping Hand

Really? Did I not take ANY pics today? What's up with that??? hehe. It's been a while since I've had no photos on here...

Anyway, I woke up not feeling so great. My throat was a bit sore, too. Never a good sign. Staying up till almost 2am the night before didn't help it any, either. I think it was almost 9am before I left my room. Captain America came home from PT to get ready, brought me my breakfast, and we hung out while he got ready for work.

I finally ventured out of the bedroom, and hung with the kids in the morning. We watched some cartoons, and I think I was on my computer for a little while. Can't remember. Maybe I was doing something in my room. Or cleaning. Folding laundry? Maybe it was folding laundry. It's gonna bug me now, you know...

Anyway, at 11am we all got ready for free lunch, then headed over. Today's food was meat and cheese sandwiches, watermelon, and potato salad (Tom LOVED it, but everyone else hated it...). Leigh and her kids showed up about 10 minutes before we left, and Hilary and her kids showed up about 5 minutes before we left. About enough time to say hi and bye - hehehe.

We headed home, and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing. Maddie and I got lunch, and put on a movie for the kids. After it was over, I commandeered the TV, and hooked up my laptop. I worked on Cub Scout stuff for what seemed like forever. It may have only been an hour. I don't know. I planned out a year worth of Cub Scout activities, from August 2010 - August 2011. After I was done, even I was excited about Cub Scouts for the upcoming year. And Tom gets out in November (to boy scouts) - ha!

I got all of the paperwork and such ready for our meeting tonight, then went outside to see what the rest of the gang was up to. We hooked up the Slip N Slide, and let the kids play for a while. The grass was pretty nasty from yesterday, so we moved it to a different spot, and they didn't play as long. Slip N Slides are kinda hard on lawns. Especially lawns in the desert - hehehe.

I cooked Hot Dogs and homemade fries and baked beans for dinner. And I had crackers and cheese, because I really didn't feel well. I took some migraine meds, and got ready for my meeting.

Captain America came home, and sat with the kids while Tom and Eme and I headed up to the church for our meetings. Captain America had a softball game at 8pm, and Jake was gonna be in charge after that (I guess my sister is home, so she's in charge, ultimately. But Jake thinks he's in charge - ROFL).

Eme went to Achievement Days, and Tom went to Webelos, and I met with the Primary to help them with Cub Scouts. Since Captain America was a professional with Scouts for 9 years, I know a little bit about the program - ha! I showed them how to use the manuals, and the books, and showed them what meetings are when and why and how and such. I was pretty excited about it.

After Tom's den meeting, the leader came down to join us, and so did our new Cubmaster. I think it's gonna be a great group, and we're gonna have a lot of fun at Scouts. As long as the leaders keep and fun and positive and energetic attitude, the kids will ALWAYS have fun. The Scout Committee asked me to be the secretary, and I was fine with that. Anyway I can help is good with me :) I like to stay involved :)

We left the church at 8:30pm, and headed home. I sent all the kids to bed, cleaned up a little bit, then hooked my laptop up to the TV. Captain America had some Logo Work he needed me to help with for work, so I sat down and started on it.

I had to take a PDF file of a logo, and figure out how to get it into Photoshop. I found that if I opened up Adobe Reader, clicked on the image, right clicked on it, copied it, I could open up a blank file in Photoshop (CS3), paste the other file, and have it. It distorted it a little, but I was able to easily fix it.

Then, I had to extract it. Cause there was a white background. That took FOREVER. Cause I didn't want strays. And it was a pencil drawing. Sigh. So it was VERY tedious. Next, Captain Americawanted it inside of an oval, and wanted the inside of the oval to be red. Ok, did that.

Then, he wanted part of the berret to be red, and the eyes to be red. Check. Then, we needed to add text. And he didn't know which text he wanted. I came up with 11 choices. Wanna see what they are??

So that's what I did all evening when I should have been blogging/designing. hehehe. Oh well, I really was ok with helping out. I may not be overly involved with the FRG, but I try and help out when I can.

So here it is, 11:44pm, and I'm just finishing up blogging. Now, off to design something :)
