Sickie

Morning all :) Well, actually, wee hours of the morning, all - hehe. It's 5 something am, and I couldn't sleep. Why? Well, my eye, for one. No, it doesn't hurt. But I keep waking up thinking I was infecting something with it - hehe.

And then I've been woken up from WEIRD dreams a lot tonight. I dreamed that Captain America got sick (or something like that), and they gave him a few days off, so he decided to fly home. and while I was happy to see him at home, he hadn't told anyone he was coming, so his Commander and everyone thought he was still there in his room. So when he finally went back, people were REALLY upset with him. And they decided that if I made a really really extra special nice WordArt for the commander, that all would be forgiven.

I also had a dream that I went to Katy's baby shower. Remember Katy and Adela? Andrea and I used to hang out with them constantly, but we parted ways back in December of 09, I think it was. Anyway, I recently found out that she was having a baby, and my friend Kari is going to her baby shower. That must be why I dreamed of her. Anyway, I can remember being a little nervous at the baby shower, because we haven't spoken since December of '09. hehe. Anyway, when I got up, I decided that I should get her a baby shower gift, with a "wishing you and the new baby all the best of luck" card. Not that I want to rekindle the friendship, just that I do really wish her and the new baby all the best of luck :) I remember how much she really wanted a baby.

And I must have been super thirsty (that's probably why I raided the kitchen late last night.... you know, must of the time people mistake hunger pains for thirst...) because in my dreams, I was CONSTANTLY looking for things to drink. Usually soda - hehe. Anyway, finally I got up and got and got a few drinks of water.

And realized that my throat felt really dry and scratchy. I don't know if I'd classify it as a sore throat. It doesn't really hurt. It just feels dry, I guess, is the best way to describe it.

AND, the smoke detectors were acting up again. I know, I know, I was supposed to check on that a while back when it was acting up. But it had stopped! hehe. Well, it went off at least 5 times last night. And the last time, the dog started whining, so I went out and sat with him for a little while after it stopped beeping. And I made myself some herbal tea (44 oz, you know...) and brought my laptop back to my room. I really am sleepy. I just think I'm weary of trying to go back to sleep to be woken up by beeps and thirsty dreams and such. Maybe I'll just snooze here with my laptop on my lap. hehe.

I find that when I'm cold, I dream a lot. And yesterday, I was SO hot in my house. I turned the heater down to 65, and it eventually cooled off. Hence the coldness now, I guess. Should have turned that back up. Although, dreams ARE entertaining :)

Ever have a dream that you see someone you haven't seen in a SUPER long time? I love it when that happens, because then I feel like I just saw them, and I don't miss them as much :) I'm strange, I know :)

OK, I just downed 44 oz of herbal tea, plus 8 oz earlier of sugar free apple cider, plus about 12 oz of water. Yeah, I think I'm gonna go back to sleep, but I bet the next time I get woken up, it's from dreams about having to pee..... ha! As long as it's just a dream, right???

Well, it wasn't the pee that woke me up. It was the smoke detector again. Here's the thing. WHY doesn't it go off during the days? Because THAT's when I'd be inclined to change the batteries. Sigh.

Anyhoo, I finally got up at 7:15am (yeah, I wasn't feeling terribly good), and got the kids to school. Luckily they were mostly ready and had already fed themselves.

Am I looking any better at all?

And I was gonna go back to sleep. But I had too many things to do. Like make banana cookies - ROFL! So I gathered up all the ingredients, and started on it. I needed my laptop, because the recipe is on my blog. And then Captain America got online, and as I was on step 3 of the cookies, he Skyped me. So I put the cookies on hold, and chatted with him. He was done with his Saturday, and with dinner and getting ready to lift then go to bed, and I was just starting my Friday. So weird having a loved one across the world...

We chatted for about an hour and a half, and I texted Kari to tell her that I was on Skype, that we'd "Just Dance 2" after I was done. It's SO awesome having Military Wife friends. They SO understand :) She said just text when I was done and she'd come over. Thanks, hon!

I showed Captain America Jim's new hockey gear, and he showed me how to put it on him and stuff. Jim was SO proud of his look!

I was done Skyping a little after 10am, and she had to wait for someone to drop something off at her house, so I spent a little more time cleaning up and finished off the cookie dough. I'd bake them later. And I took Jim to the bus at 11am, Jake took Boxer on a walk, and Kari came to play. We had SO much fun!

We ended up playing about 20 songs, and were totally sweating when we were done. She left to go home, and Jake and I had lunch. And he finished up school and watched some show on his computer, and I watched a few episodes of Glee.

And baked 1/2 the cookie dough. And made up a few plates for his bus driver and bus monitor. When he got on the bus this morning, he'd asked if I could give some cookies to them. What a sweet boy :)

Click HERE for the recipe of my TASTY cookies. I added an extra 1/2 bag of chocolate chips, 1/2 a bag of butterscotch chips, 1/2 a bag of walnuts, and frosted them with store bought chocolate frosting. SUPER yummy!

I picked up Jim from the bus, gave the bus guys the cookies, and headed back home. And wasn't feeling very good, so I totally took a nap. And woke up when the other 3 kids got home from school. And really needed to get up. I needed to go grocery shopping. Because "single parents" can't be sick. We still need to eat, you know. We were out of Bread. And a few other staples. No snacks. No fruit. Yeah, not working so much.

So at around 4:00pm, I got up and grabbed my laptop and re-did the menu. And the shopping list. And printed them off, and had taught Eme how to use it. We went through the fridge and cupboards and saw what we needed, what we had, and subtracted the one from the other, and changed the number on the list. Like say we needed 28 apples for the week. And we still had 5. So then we'd need 23 apples for the week. See, I can do math. hehe. Anyway, I let her do the writing, and she seemed to enjoy it :)

And then I told the kids to eat an apple and a bowl of cereal, and that we'd bring back some pizza for them. I really didn't have the time or energy to make homemade pizza tonight (friday night is the new homemade pizza night...). And off we went.

See the new menu...

I let Eme be in charge of the list, and showed her how my list was set up by isle in the store. She thought it was pretty cool. We'd get to the end of the isle, and she'd read off that list, and make sure that we got everything. She caught a few items that would have slipped through the cracks without her. Thanks, girl!

I decided to buy some "I have a cold" herbal tea, and found this one when I was looking. ha!
We paid, and the bagger chickie helped us load up the truck, and off we went home. I started out tipping the baggers just $1, then $2 when he made 2nd LT. And I decided that once we hit 1st LT, that I'd up the tip to $5. They seem to be happy with that :) Gotta start somewhere, right?

I told the kids that whoever helped carry in groceries would get a soda (I'd bought it for them anyway, but thought it would be a good motivation). Since Eme and I bought the groceries, we didn't have to carry in the groceries. That's my family rule - hehe.

I put them all away, popped in the pizza, and fed the kids. And felt really sick. My poor sore throat. I was feeling pretty tired too.

TOm wanted me to show you his Lego creation. It's the Enterprise.
I wonder where she gets it from?

I probably would feel better if I'd stop playing Just Dance 2. hehe. The kids were playing, and I jumped on for a few rounds. hehe. Someone stop me!

It's now 8:45pm, and the kids are still all up and playing. Jake and Eme and Tom are on the computers, and Joe and Jim are on Just Dance 2. And I'm blogging and trying to get this post done for tomorrow. I need to go make myself some soup, and put the kids to bed at 9pm.

I don't remember if I blogged about it or not, but my eye felt puffy yesterday. I asked Kari if she could tell, and she said no. And I remember taking my contacts out AS SOON as I got home from Yoga. And wearing glasses the rest of the day. And having drainage from it, but not really thinking a lot about it.

Anyway, my eye was crusted over when I woke up this morning, and it looked like this...

We'd never had pink eye in my house (amazing, I know, with 5 kids), so I didn't really know what it looked like, or even the symptoms. So I facebooked this picture. Yeah, because I have absolutely no shame. hehe. And EVEYRONE said to go to the Doctor. And I SO didn't want to. Because I had swimming plans at 8:30 with Kari and Laurie. Hmpf! So I called Tele-nurse, and the chickie said that it definitely sounded like pink eye. Double sigh. She said no pool, and to go to Urgent Care. OK, fine!

Kids had gotten on the bus at 7:30am, and I'd got off the phone with Tele-nurse at 8am, and changed clothes, pulled my hair back, and headed up to the Urgent Care office. I was there by 8:30am. And I bought my laptop, and my Sonic cup filled with herbal peppermint tea, and my phone, and all sorts of stuff to keep me occupied.

And yeah, I was one of 3 people there. It was SUCH a quick visit. But that's fine with me. I'd much rather bring too much and have it go fast than bring too little and have it go slow. No complaints here :)

The doctor was in to see me in just a few minutes, he looked in my eye, and was like, yup, DEFINITELY Pink Eye. He prescribed me some meds, and I was on my way. I stopped at Walgreens on the way home for the prescription, and bought some new make up in the 15 minutes it took to fill the script.

And I was home by 9:30am. Yeah, SUPER quick trip! Amazingly fast. hehe. I got home, and Jake and I played Just Dance for a few minutes, and Laurie came over, and I let her pick out some of my formals to borrow for a ball. Because I have a plethora of them, you know! Gotta love cheap thrift store finds!

I changed clothes, put on a skirt, and got ready for lunch with Terra. She was having me as her guest at the OCSA (yeah, something about officers spouses and something else association...) luncheon. And, I promised not to touch or rub my eye on anyone, AND had hand sanitizer on my table. hehe. Jake took Jim to the bus, and we headed out to lunch a little before 11 am.

We drove over to the Centennial on Biggs, and their tables were SO stinkin' cute! The theme for the luncheon was "Bloom where you are planted". And was all about gardening :)
There were vendors set up all around the room, with a variety of things. Stain glass, and quilting, and frames, and jewelry, and this chickie who had AWESOME desserts,
And this stuff that was WAY overpriced that the name reminded me of Whataburger, but it wasn't that..... Baskets and junk. Yeah, I think not!

And then it was time for the speaker and lunch. The speaker was a horticulturist who was from El Paso and knew what to grow and where and why and how and all that junk. She had an odd sense of humor, but kept our table entertained :)

We had a vegetable soup and rolls first, then the brought us our salads. This was the first option, which Terra got. Taco salad. She didn't like it at all...

And I picked the Asian chicken spinach salad. It was really pretty good :)

And after the first speaker, we got dessert and heard from the 2nd speaker. She was the Post Commanders wife, and talked about "Blooming where we're planted". Making the most of where ever we are at the moment. Very important for military families. She had some good tips.

Anyway, the chickie that made the desserts was sitting at our table, and she'd made this 4 AMAZING cakes for everyone. And I got a little bit of 3 of them, and a slice on one. SO good. The peanut butter frosting was TO DIE FOR. Anyway, she got a kick out of me taking pictures of the food and everything at the table. hehe. I told her I was a blogger, and she joked, "So, my cake will be on your blog tomorrow". Oh yea! Little did she know - hehe.

So, if you're in the El Paso area, and need cakes, her email is on that card above on the cookies. WONDERFUL!

And about half way through lunch, I realized that I hadn't had any caffeine yet today. And I could feel it. I was getting a migraine. Sigh. But, despite the developing migraine, I really did have a fun time at lunch with Terra and the girls at our table.

She dropped me off at home, and I changed into more comfortable clothes, and noticed this tag. Sigh. At least my black shirt was pulled down low and no one could see it - ha!

Anyway, I changed clothes, took some meds, and laid down for a nap. My head was KILLING me. Jake took Boxer for a walk (he was already done with school), and I felt so much better when I woke up. But my eye looked nasty.

I had time to upload my new products to my server, and then had to go and get Jim from the bus. I tried to go with the sunglasses, but they were more uncomfortable than the light - hehe.
I got Jim from the bus, and loaded my store, and soon it was time to go and pick up Eme and Tom from AQ. And we came home, and did chores, and my head was hurting again, so I laid down in my bed and used my neck massager. And really felt a lot better when it was done.

I made Grilled Spaghetti and Cheese sandwiches for the kids for dinner (just left over spaghetti on bread with cheese, grilled - nasty, I know), and soon it was time to take the little boys to hockey at the ice rink. They were SOOOO excited!

And it was FREEZING there :) I thought the boys were gonna quickly get their equipment and play. But no. Nothing is quick. hehe. So the little boys were under dressed, but excited about getting their gear.

Check out these Helmets. They're exactly the same size - hehe. Jim has my large head...
We were there for about an hour, then headed home. We'll be back on Saturday for a real practice and a uniform fitting. The little boys were SO excited to show off their stuff at home to Jake and Tom!

These jerseys are big, but they have to have pads under them... Joe got a medium and Jim got a large - hehe.
And I helped Joe with his homework (yeah, next Thursday, he's TOTALLY doing homework BEFORE hockey) and got the kids to bed, and now it's almost 9pm. Jake and Tom and I are watching the last few minutes of a Star Trek movie, and I think I may read a book and take a bath. Or just go to bed. Or watch some TV. I don't know yet :) I didn't hear from Captain America yesterday (he'd told me he was gonna be busy for a few days), so I'm hoping that he's gonna call tonight :)

Just Dance

Wow. Really? I only took 4 pictures today? And they're crappy pictures - hehe. I promise to do a better job tomorrow - LOL! So I got to talk with Captain America again last night :) I'm liking my new nightly routine. Chat with my man right before bedtime :)

And Jim crawled into bed with me at 6am. Sigh. I HATE it when people touch me when I sleep, and he's SUCH a snuggle bunny! So at 6:30am, I snuck out and went to lay on the couch. And Eme and Tom and Joe were awake, and happy to see me. Sigh (hehe), no rest out there either. I just kinda laid there and half listened to them. I did get to help Joe read his AR book, so that was good.

And eventually, Jim was up, and Jake was up, and it was time for the kids to go to School. And time for Jake to take Boxer for a walk. And I think I went back to bed for a little while. And I woke up in time to go and swim a few laps at the pool, but decided against it. I Just Danced 2 instead. ha!

After doing that for an hour, I was WAY more sweaty than I thought I should be (hehe), so I just barely had time to shower. And thread my lip. Because since my eyebrows looked good, I didn't want a mustache - ROFL!

I didn't have enough time to get all pretty, but I DID put on some makeup. But just ended up putting some clippies in my hair and throwing on some clothes, then getting Jimmy ready for the bus.

I drove him to the Bus stop in the Saturn, then picked up Kari from her house, and off we went to Yoga. Once again, I forgot my mat. ha! Once of these weeks, I'll actually get to use it!

Anyway, we were there just a few minutes late, but we didn't miss much. And I was SO tired from Just Dance. Note to self: Don't exercise BEFORE yoga. It'll kick your booty! Anyway, I did the class, sweating the WHOLE time. Boy, was it a workout!

After class, we loaded up in the Saturn and headed back home. I ate lunch real fast, and Jake and I headed out to the store. We needed Bread and milk and cereal, and a few other things. And the Dollar Tree is my FAVORITE bread place (or was...).

So we drove over to the East Side, to the BEST dollar tree for Bread. And they were out. Whaaaat? So not cool... So we went to the East Side Walmart, and grabbed a few things. And they had these COOL little totes on sale! Perfect for a box of cereal. One bigger one, and 2 smaller ones, for a Buck a piece! Cool, huh! I ended up getting like 8 of them. hehe. I could use the bigger ones for food type items, and let the kids keep toys in the smaller ones :)

It took FOREVER in the check out line, even though there was only 2 people in front of me. I think I just picked the SLOWEST checker on the planet... Oh well.

So when we headed out, we didn't have time to hit another Dollar tree. Drat. We came back on post, I dropped off Jake and the stuff, and headed to the Bus Stop to get Jim. And Jim and I headed out to the Dollar Tree on Dyer.

And, sad day, I'm thinking that Dollar Tree doesn't have bread. I haven't found any there in a while. I think I may call them tomorrow and ask directly. Instead of driving all over Gods Green Earth (or not so green when it comes to El Paso) looking for $1 bread. Kind of defeats the purpose, you know...

So we drove across the street to Super 8 grocery store, and bought some White Bread (gag!) that was on sale for $0.68 a loaf. I hate white bread.

And then Jim and I stopped at Sonic (*squeels*) for a Happy Hour Rt. 44 Diet Dr Pepper, easy ice. Haven't done that in a LONG time. And, they got it right :)

And Jim was TOTALLY asleep in a few minutes. And I must admit, I did drink down my soda pretty far, and trade with him - ROFL! He'll never know, right...

AND, this picture is for ALL of you guys stuck in the wintery snowy frozen northland....
I realized that I wasn't gonna make it to the bus to find out if Eme and Tom had come home from school or stayed for AQ, but decided that they'd probably gone to AQ. So I drove to the school and waited in the parking lot. And texted Jake. Yup, the kids had come home from school on the bus. No AQ. So I drove home. And Tom met me in the driveway, and was like, did you get Eme? Whaaaat? Silly Jake. He'd seen Tom and Joe come home, and assumed that Eme was there too. So back to the school I went (good thing it's only a 3 minute drive...) and headed home.

And I told the kids that as soon as they got their chores and homework done, that we'd play Just Dance. So we all started in. I helped EMe with the living room, and we even moved the coffee table permanently so that we'd have a bigger dance floor (pathetic, I know...) And Joe did his homework, and Tom worked on his report, and Eme did her homework. And I did some Facebook time.

And my friend had this on her status:

WARNING! Facebook now automatically scans your brain through your monitor. To BLOCK, go to your kitchen cabinet and remove the box of aluminum foil. Wrap foil around your head, stay calm & breathe through your left nostril. This is a serious problem & has been confirmed by my cousin's girlfriend's neighbor's son's baby's mama and her pet chihuahua. Copy and paste as your status! SAVE YOUR FRIENDS

Which, I, of course, thought was HILARIOUS! So I ran to the cupboard, grabbed the tin foil, wrapped it around my head, grabbed my laptop, and snapped a picture. Yeah, I know, I'm a nerd. And proud of it! Nerds Unite, right!?!
Joe was SO excited about the tin foil. He made several things out of it. hehe. And then we played. Joe and Tom and Eme and I. It was a LOT of fun. And my arms are TOTALLY killing me now. hehe.

I cooked Spaghetti for the kids, and my regular dinner for me, and ended up totally burning my veggies. hehe. But I rinsed them off and ate them anyways. In between rounds, of course... The newness DOES wear off, right? Or will I be this addicted to it forever???

Anyway, Tom and I played a tournament, and I won! Woohoo for me :) And then it was SO time for Wednesday night activities. I had the kids put on their scout clothes, and off we went. I made sure that Jim and Joe had on socks, because we were gonna go and play at Carls Jr Playland for the hour and a half that the big kids were at the church.

And Jake was TOTALLY driving me crazy. He was fine during the day, but had just started getting mouthy and negative and rude. And I HATE that. Rude to the other kids, and rude to me. And yeah, I WON"T tolerate that... And it's hard to know how much of that is the fact that he's a 13 year old boy, and how much of that is that he's slightly autistic...

So I threatened to take away electronics, which didn't seem to have much of an effect. And finally, I was like, If you don't have an attitude adjustment SOON, in the next few days, then you're going back to Public School. So I don't have to deal with you all day long! And I think that worked. I really do enjoy his company when he's being nice. And I told him that.

Anyway, I dropped them off at church (a little too happily) and the little boys and I headed to Carls Jr. We ordered a large soda and a large fries, and they played and I designed. I was WAY over my max for caffeine for the day, and was feeling a little sick. Caffeine overload, I think. hehe. I designed 4 WordArt Packs ( I think it was that many) while the kids played Tag with their new "friends".

At one point, Jimmy came up and asked me to come and play grown up and kid tag with him. Nope, I said. Why, he asked? Because I'd fall down and pee myself, I said. He looked at me REALLY funny and said, Reallly? Yup, Jim. Really.... ROFL! (or not, because then I WOULD pee myself!)

We headed back to the church in time to pick up the kids, and they all had smiles on their faces. Even Jake. And it was almost pleasant on the way home. His attitude had improved a TON. And I put the little kids to bed when we got home, and the big kids did whatever they needed to to get ready for bed, and then I eventually sent them off to bed.

I eventually started blogging (SO glad that I'd done the WordArt earlier in the day!), and found Andrea on line on Skype. And we skype messengered for about an hour, until she had to go to bed. Cause she's 2 hours ahead of us, and I'm sure was FALLING asleep! hehe.

And I finished up my blog, and here it is, 11:02pm. And I'm SO tired. I've got swimming in the morning, and a luncheon with Terra at some Officers wives club group thingy tomorrow too. And the little boys start Hockey practice tomorrow evening. Should be a busy and fun day :)

Sharon, my dear, this is FABULOUS!!! Especially because this is what I had done - hehe.
