Dream Magic

We had a great time last night watching National Treasure 2: Book of Treasures as a family. We haven't done that in a while, and it was a lot of fun. When the movie was over, and the kids were in bed, I went into the kitchen to turn off the lights, and noticed just how many bags of microwave popcorn were cooked. 7. For 5 little kids. And they ate it all. Captain America and I are on our diet (9 lbs to date- 11 lbs for Captain America), so no popcorn for us. I didn't realize they were making and eating so much. Goodness!

This WordArt request is from Julie. I thought the quote was very nice, and a great message! Click on the image below to download, and leave some love if you like my work.

Tagged - And a Freebie

Before I get to the tagging, I realized that if I was gonna make you all read this long and boring...er, fun and exciting post, I should at least have something fantastic waiting for you at the end. So, get to reading so you can see your surprise :)

Ok, I've been tagged 3 times in one day! What's up with that ? hehehe - does that mean that I'm loved! Lets see if I can figure out how to play :)

I was tagged by Bonnie , Jeanie (aka scrapdoctor designs) , and LJ Marinello (bella memorie) - Thanks girls! I know this means that you like me :) hehehe

Anyway here's the rules:

  1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
  2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
  3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
  4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Facts about me, huh? Are you sure you want to know. I'm kinda weird. What, you already figured that out! How rude :) hehehe. Here it goes:
1. I love making faces and being silly - oh, and I wear aprons. what, you think that's dorky. I don't care, I LOVE aprons! It's like dishtowels attached to your body!!! See the cute apron that my grandma in Oregon made for me! Thanks Grandma Ida :)
2. I met my in-laws for the first time on my Wedding day. At the wedding ceremony when I walked in. They were coming from Illinois to Portland Oregon, and we were driving 3 1/2 hours to get to the Portland temple, and had car trouble. We should have had an hour to meet and chat with them in the parking lot before hand, but it didn't work out that way. Our meeting was memorable, don't you think! (my mom is a paper scrapper, and posted a few of my wedding photos on her blog a while back - thanks mom!)
3. I'm afraid of manholes - I know, you're scared too, just thinking about it!!! Can you imagine actually falling into one. I shudder just thinking about it. And what would be even worse, is getting into a car crash, stumbling out of the car, getting attacked by a dog, THEN falling into a manhole. That's my nightmare scenario! Yeah, stop laughing! You know it sounds scary too!
4. I obsessively check my e-mail. It's gotten really bad lately. When online, I always have to have a window with g-mail open, and I'm on the computer a lot (what with homeschooling through a virtual academy). Our last civil war weekend was 2 days with no e-mail checking. I went through some serious withdrawals that Saturday :) But, I survived!
5. I arrange my closet by color. I used to arrange it by types of clothes, but I find that when I go to pick out an outfit, I pick color first, then type. Aren't I strange :) I like to look through my closet and see the pretty rainbow of colors. First blues, then blacks, then pinks, reds, purples, whites, creams, yellows, browns, and greens. I by FAR have the most black. It's such a lovely and sliming color, don't you think! (and just because I like my clothes color coordinated doesn't mean I'm a neat freak. just ask my hubby. he'll tell you otherwise. i'm really kinda messy - but don't tell anyone else!!!)

6. I've been pregnant 7 times, and have 5 kids. Yep, miscarriages between #1-2 and between #2-3. I guess my body just likes the 2 year spacing, not the 15-18 month spacing. It was sad at the time, but I'm not one to be sad about things for long. I had a friend who miscarried a while back, and I was really glad that I could help her though her tough time because I knew what she'd gone through, and how she was feeling. Things happen for a reason :) - Here they all are at the Build-A-Bear workshop in St. Louis. Poor little things had to all share 1 bear (puppy) - but it's has 7 hearts, so it'll have extra love!!!

#7 - One more to go! Let's see.....hmmmm.....I can pick up things with my toes! Can you? I LOVE this talent that I have (hey, it's a talent, don't laugh). No more bending over to get things. I just pick it up with my toes, and bend my leg up to my hands. AWESOME! hehehe. Goes right along with hating to wear shoes. Can't pick things up with shoes on, no can you?

OK, now for the tagging of 7 people. Hmmmm, who's it gonna be?

Melissa - Love your blog, girl- You're awesome!
Crystal - Have so much fun on our Collabs :)
Madi - You're my little sis, and you're awesome
Tom - Don't worry, I'll help you do it (he's my 8 year old, and is always asking
me to make WordArt for him so that people will come to his blog too!)
Sharon Kay - cause you like my WordArt :)
Ramona (treasured reflections) - because you nominated me for the Arte Y Pico award :), and because you are a SAHM of 5 too!
ScrapShana - you're just cool! and you make nice digi things!

Allright, now I have my list of the 7 people who hate me...er, who were tagged. I supposed I'm supposed to go to their blogs and let them know that, right.

And now for the freebie! This is for all of your layouts of your kids (or you) playing tag, or for the friendly game of tag that we all so love to play here in the digi world! Hope you enjoy!

Ride Em

Wow, I was up late again last night! I really need to start getting to bed earlier. Wednesday night it was 1am, and last night it was midnight! Maybe tonight I can get to bed by 11. It's just so hard when I have the whole evening to myself to design!

See what I made last night! Kami of Ziggle Designs has a new kit in her store, and I made some WordArt to go along with it! Don't you just love it!

And now for your freebee. This WordArt request is from Rachel. Don't you just love this font! Hope you like it! I know that I have all sorts of pics that will work for this one. Either pretending to be a cowboy, dressed up like a cowboy, or just riding around a stick in the backyard (what, don't your kids do that?).

Lives Forever Changed

So a lot of you wanted to know which diet my hubby and I have started, so I'll take just a minute and let you all know. We're doing Dr. Cohen's 1st Personal Diet. While there is a fee associated with it, I figured that we're spending more than that in diet meal bars (we're always on some type of diet or another). It's hard, and you have to eat only what's on the diet (but then, isn't that what a diet is :) and weigh and measure everything (but that plays into one of my personality strengths!), but it's working! We have a friend who's lost 26 lbs in 4 weeks.

I'll keep you all updated on my progress, and test it out for ya all :) hehehe. If it works as good as I think it's gonna work, I'll be back in my skinny clothes in no time!!! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

This WordArt request is for Chelsea. What a fabulous saying! I SO loved it!!! It was a bit long, but I think that it worked out pretty good :) She's gonna use it for the cover of her son's baby book. Let me know how it turns out!

My Baptism Day

Don't know if I've mentioned this here on this blog or not, but my hubby and I started a new diet last Monday, and I just wanted to brag and say that I've lost 8 lbs, and he's lost almost 10!!! Woohoo for us :) Sorry, just had to share :)

I want you to know that I searched the internet from top to bottom (ok, I may be exaggerating just a bit) to find a nice, short (always the key) poem on baptism to make a nice WordArt for Heather, but there's nothing. Absolutely nothing. So, this is what you get. I think it turned out quite nicely, but I still wanted that nice, short, and sweet poem. Oh well, we don't always get what ya want, right?

So here's 2 choices. The more "girly" choice, and the more "boyish" choice.

Boots For Walking

I thought that I'd take a minute and share a few pictures from our campout this past weekend. We had a GREAT time! It was our first Re-enactment of the year, and a very fun time. It was in a suburb of Cincinnati, on the north side, I think. Sharonville? Can't remember. Anyway, they had this really neat park with replica buildings from Civil War era. Perfect setting for a reenactment. If there were a bigger area for a battle, it would have been even better!

The kids had a lot of fun, and got to play in the wood and just be kids. Most kids don't get a chance to do that anymore. I'm so glad that our family does this as a hobby. It's a great family activity, and my kids get to learn TONS (more than they even want to!) about the history of our country. If you ever get the chance, you should go and see a reenactment. They're a great time, and you'll learn a lot!

Yes, the were CLOSELY supervised! That deep river and steep bank was NOT a highlight of my trip. I eventually laid branches out as a "don't cross this line" barrier so they could throw rocks into the river for a minute or two, then we moved on.

Here's my sweetie, getting ready to go off to battle!

Here's Captain America again. He's on the gray horse (Travis). Merele, the guy on the far right, is kind enough to let us use his horse for the reenactments! Otherwise, we'd still be infantry. Cavalry is sure a lot of fun!

While you can't see Captain America, you can see his pistol and the shot coming from it. Only gunpowder is used, but ya sure wouldn't want to be standing near it when it goes off. It's still VERY dangerous, even without live fire (bullets). Gun safety is definitely taught in our household :)

And here's Tom (8 yrs)! Isn't he a cutie! His big brother let him borrow his habersack (that bag at his waist) and kepi (hat), and his dad is letting him pose with the sword. While sabers (swords) were RARELY used in battles, they were often still part of a cavalry mans uniform.

And now, back to WordArt :)

This is a WordArt request from Trina, who has a cute pic of her 3 month old in cowboy boots. Adorable! So, take your pick. Are you boots made for walking, or NOT for walking :) hehehe.

Accident

was reading in the forum over at ScrapOrchard about a little one (5 yr old) who had broken their arm, and thought about all of my accident prone kids. I've had busted lips, broken legs, stitches on eyebrows, dog bites to the eyelid, stitches on knees, bloody noses, missing toenails, bruises, bumps, knocked out teeth, mysterious swelling of hands, hives, bee stings, spider bites..... with 5 kids, we're VERY prone to accidents. Anyway, I thought that this would be cute with all of your pics of kids and boo boos (or not so little kids too! - i have one of my hubby after thanksgiving turkey bowl that would work too.....)

Children Feeling Cherished

Happy Sunday :) We're still on our Civil War weekend, and if you're reading this, then my scheduled post worked!!! (I was very prepared, and had it all ready THURSDAY night! Aren't you proud of me!)

I really liked this quote. I think that I need to do more cherishing in my house, and less correcting :) I do love my kids, and know that they do SO many things good and right! Love you guys :)

Thanks, Thanks

Thanks to my trick with the publishing dates, you all have WordArt for the weekend, while I'm off playing! We're Civil War camping this weekend (so hope for nice weather for us!). It's our first of the season, time to see just what we should have done more over the winter! I've been busy sewing the last few days, but should have done more, I'm sure. I guess well find out!!!

I thought that this WordArt would be good for all of you with kids just finishing up the school year, to send in a note for a teacher, or something like that. Or a nice layout with a child and their teacher. I thought that I was a nice quote, and hadn't heard it before.

Thank You, Coach!!!

Yes, my mom always did say that I was an over-achiever. hehehe. Karie had a WordArt request for something to give to her child's baseball coach at the end of the season, and I started to think that there's probably a lot of parents who would love to give a nice card, or page, or something to their children's coaches at the end of the season. So, here's all the sports that I could come up with off the top of my head. Yep, it's all in one download. It was easier for me that way than individually uploading all of them. So, hope you enjoy!!!

Until We Meet Again

After a nice day of rest (if doing school for 5 hours could possible be rest :), I'm feeling much better. My headache is mostly gone, and I'm feeling good :) Trying to get school tied up for the year, and pack for our Civil War weekend. I have to find a sub for my sunday school class (we're gone about 4 Sunday's a year for our re-enactments), make more clothes for the kids, get the trailer licensed, pack food for the weekend, pack up, and all before Friday afternoon. I sure hope I can do it! I made my oldest a new shirt and my 2 youngest new jammie pants today. That's a good start :)

This WordArt request is for Krista. But, after making this WordArt, I debated putting it in the store. It thought it turned out SO nicely. But, I decided to give it to you guys! I made the paper and the little flower things to go along with it, and I might be making more WordArt to go with this theme. Keep an eye out :)

And the Winner IS ......

KRISTA!!!
I really liked your layout! I had my hubby help me pick, and since he got his degree in art (yes, I know, what a USEFUL degree - hehehe), I thought we could put that to good use. He liked the black and white-ness of it, with limited use of color. He liked how the ribbon at the top visually tied in the WordArt at the bottom. We both thought that the photograph was awesome! Wonderful job!!

Just shoot me an email with what product from my store you would like, and I'll send you a coupon code!!! (scraporchard)

And, thanks to everyone who played! Loved all of your layouts, and I think that they really showed how much love we all have for mothers!!!

Remember Moments

So I'm working on my post tonight (remember, auto publish thingy!), and I have a headache that's about to make me puke. Oh wait. There's no food in my belly, cause I just started a new diet! Well, nauseous, anyway. So, I considered just going to bed and letting you all fend for yourself WordArt wise (hehehe), but my conscious got the better of me, and I managed to make one for you all! So, if there's a problem with it, or if there's a typo, or if I misquoted the guy, well, I had a migraine while making it, so I'm excused, right :) hehehe.

This WordArt request is from . I really liked the idea behind it. Moments are so precious and so sweet, aren't they!

Many Hands

So, any Survivor fans out there? I don't get cable, so I just watched the finale last night on the internet. This was my favorite season so far!!! Loved it! I would have liked to see Amanda win, but I guess I was ok with Parvati too. I've been watching Survivor since about season 2 or 3. I SO love TV. hehehe

This WordArt request is from Brenda. She said that her mothers would always say this. And a good wise woman she must be! I say something similar to my kids! Something to the effect that if we all work together, it makes everyone's work easier. This is a very nice way to say it!

Eagle Scouts

So, how was everyone's Mother's Day? Fabulous, I hope!!! I had a nice day, with my kids being very attentive, and loving :) My 10 year old wanted to make sure that I had everything I needed all day long. What a sweet boy! And, we had a family with some teenagers sit by us at church, and help with Jim (2) and Joe (4), so I could actually listen to the talks! My husband sits up front, so some days it's tricky to contain 5 kids for an hour in a pew at church by myself :) But, as my hubby always tells me, I have super mom powers (hehehe).

This WordArt request is from Sharon, and I LOVE the way it turned out! I also made one for "future" eagle scouts, which would apply to ANY boy in scouts. or younger siblings. Heck, I could even make up a page with my daughter at Scouts with this WordArt. Wouldn't that be cute :) Hope all of you enjoy!!!

Marry My Friend

First off, I just wanted to say HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MOM!!! (I think you read my blog - hehehe) I hope that your day is wonderful, and wish I could be there to enjoy it with ya! And, to my Mother-In-Law Carol, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! Hope your day is perfect!

I kinda wish that Mother's Day was on a Saturday, because I spend so much of my Sunday at church, that I don't get to slow down and enjoy "my" day. Boy, that sure sounded bratty. hehehe. My husband is in the bishopric (church leadership), and is gone from 7:45am - 3:30pm every Sunday. So, Mother's Day will be me with the kids for the majority of the day. But hey, that's what being a MOM is all about, right!

Funny story, my 10 year old, last night, wanted to know what my favorite breakfast was. Biscuits and Sausage Gravy, I told him. Well, he wanted to cook it for me tomorrow morning. Sweek kid. But really, do I want Biscuits and Sausage Gravy cooked by my 10 year old son, with no supervision. hmmmm. not really. Thanks Jacob, for thinking of me, but I think I'll pass this year! Maybe you and I can cook it together Mother's Day Morning!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there who is a mother!!! You're doing a great thing in being a mother! (not to say that your not doing a great thing if you're not a mother - more than one thing can be great:) Keep up the good work, and know that someone appreciates all that you do!!!

This is a WordArt request from Rian. It's a little bit different look than my normal WordArt, but I think I like it! Hope you do too!

Mothers Day Challenge!!!

Want to win one of my WordArt packs? You do! OK then, here's what you need to do! First, download this WONDERFUL Mother's Day WordArt (that's the easy part - hehehe). Then, scrap a page about - 1)your mother, 2)you as a mother. Seems easy enough, right?

Then, simply send in your layouts! I'll post all that you send me, so make sure to include the credits (what stuff you used) and your name! You can email them to me at bnbharty@gmail.com.

Then, on Wednesday morning when I wake up (EST), I'll select a winner. The one that impresses me the most. Could be because of composition. Could be because of layout. Could be because of the cuteness of the picture. Could be because of the sentiment behind it. Could be because of the heart put into it. But this time, I really don't want to pick a random number. That's more like a WordArt drawing, not a WordArt challenge. hehehe.

So, start working on your layouts! I'm SO excited to see what you all come up with!!!

Have and Hold

So, I had the night off! Well, not really, but I sat upstairs and designed from 3:30 till I went to bed! How did I possible manage that, do you ask? Baby gates and TV!!! hehehe. Now, you can't do that every night, or your kids will be OUT OF CONTROL. But, every once in a while, it's a nice break for me (and the kids!). Hopefully my house isn't trashed too bad (I'm writing this last night! - remember the scheduled post thing - awesome!!!)

Allright. This WordArt request is from both Kimberli and Allison. Kimberli wanted something wedding themed, and Allison wanted this particular one. I SO love it when it all comes together!

Dream / Reality

Another Cub Scout meeting last night, and another day of school. I'll sure be glad when summer is here! I'm definitely needing a break :) hehehe.

This WordArt is a request from Crissie. Yes, I'm sorry I've been putting it off! It was long, and tricky. But, I think as a circle, it does quite nice! I pulled out the really important stuff from the quote, and put it into the middle. I'm likin' it :)

Do It!

My hubby and I are starting a new diet in a few days, so we had a "celebratory" ice cream party at the park yesterday. hehehe. The kids had a blast! They love ice cream (as do I), and it was so fun to take it to the park and make sundae's. Try it some time. You're kids will love it!!!

Cub Scouts was a lot of fun last night! The kids made some type of twirly thing out of dowel rods, black electrical tape, and felt. They had such a great time! The all looked like a bunch of man cheerleaders! So funny :)

This WordArt is a request from Donna, and is very similar to the "Who Made This Mess" WordArt I made quite some time back. They'd go well together, don't you think! I sure hear this one a lot, as I'm sure most mom's do!!!

Love is a Beautiful Thing

We were at the park yesterday, and had a GREAT time! The sun was shining, it was warm, the kids played, and I got to chat on the phone with my sister in Utah! What could be better!

OK, I know that some people had requests in, and that this is NOT one of them, but this song has been in my head NONSTOP for a day or so. So, to get it out of my head, here's my WordArt sacrifice to the "song in your head" gods :) hehehe. Do you think it'll work? No, maybe you're right!

Touch the Sky

So, are you all ready for another week? I sure am! Each day is a day closer to the end of school! Wait, that's supposed to be the kids saying that, not the teacher, right? hehehe. We're working on finishing up classes (closer for some kids than others!), and I promised the kids if they got done fast enough today, we'd go to the park (only a 6 minute walk from our house). I sure hope they're motivated, cause I'd so LOVE to spend an hour at the park!!!

Oh yeah, and I wanted to show you a few pics from our campout this past weekend. I didn't have time to scrap them, but I'll get around to it one of these days :)

Check out the amount of mud that my boys were sleeping on. Sure, there was a drop cloth down, but really, come on, how much is that REALLY gonna help! Again, I'm SO GLAD that I stayed home for the sleeping part :) My #2 son Tom is in the tent. Hi TOM!!!

And, since I knew it would be impossible to keep Jimmy (the 2 year old) out of the mud and water, I said, What the Heck!, and just let him play in the puddles to his hearts content. I figured it would be much nicer than having him in trouble all day long. And, he had a GREAT TIME!

And, I just liked this photo, and thought that while he was dirty and grimy, he was ADORABLE!

This is a WordArt request from Cheri. I thought that it would be good for swing layouts, or layouts with kids in high places (like jungle gyms). I know I have a couple that like to climb! Crazy kids!

Blah Blah Blah

Allright, so this WordArt isn't fabulous, but hey, you can't have fabulous every day. At least it's funny! We were camping yesterday (well, the big boys were anyway! - we joined them at about 10 am), and got home and were TIRED! Then, I found out we were doing a LIVE CHAT at ScrapOrchard, and quickly jumped on there! So, I had little time to design, and the truck still needed unpacking. Late night again :)

So, here's the WordArt. I thought it looked cute on my photo of Jimmy (my 2 year old), while in the truck on our trip to St. Louis. Doesn't his face say "As if I care!". What a funny kid!
