Having it All

Packing day was yesterday! And was a LONG day it was :) I was up at 8ish, and started to clean up my area. I packed my pants, and accessories, and my cot area (LOL!) - you'd be surprised how much stuff you can cram under a cot - hehehe.

My mom and dad went to the storage unit to grab my totes, and any boxes that we might have had. Nope, we had none. We started to call around to the local stores, looking for more boxes, but there weren't really any. I looked up the Uhaul place on line, but they were closed. Whats up with that? Don't people move on the weekends?

My dad went to the grocery store (who had said they only had about 5), and brought home about 20. Way to go, Dad! All my box issues were solved!!! They were nice ones, too. Banana boxes, so they were big and sturdy. We got all my food storage in there just fine :)

Here's my dad putting down the first layer of boxes in the trailer. My tarp is at least a 16x20, so we put part of it in the bed, then a WHOLE bunch at the front, and our plan was to wrap it over the top. Smart, eh?


Next, we packed up the kids clothes. I'd gone through the day before, and pulled out 5 days worth of clothes, so we took all the rest, and put it in totes. There were some other totes with stuff in them too. Those went on next. And some more boxes. We went from room to room, packing as we went. After we got this far in the process, we shrink wrapped it. Shrink wrap is AWESOME!!! So much fun :)

At noon, we went to Abbys Pizza for lunch. Tom had a few coupons from school, so that's where we went. Wings, Potatoes, and Pizza. Yummy. But a little bit too greasy for my liking. I had to dab them with my napkin to soak up the extra grease. Eeewh! Tasty, but eeewh! Especially with the ranch. The kids had fun "fake" playing on the video games there, and eating lunch.

Then, it was back to the house for more....guess what? PACKING! LOL! My Grandma, my Aunt Sue, and my parents were all over helping. The little kids were running amok, but they were happy and safe. Not causing too many problems :)

Here's a final picture of the trailer for last night. Tarped, bungeed, shrink wrapped, and bungee netted. I don't think this loads going ANYWHERE! hehehehe. It's in there pretty good. Today, we're gonna shrink wrap it more. It's fun - you should try it some time - hehehe.


The bikes are on the trailer tongue, tied down real good. REAL GOOD. They're not gonna budge at all. We're gonna....... SHRINK WRAP it more tomorrow - hehehehehe. Bikes and all. Yep, no Uhaul for us. Homemake all the way - LMBO!

You know, sitting here on my couch last night (pre-publishing), I'm really grateful for all that I have. My trailer is loaded, and I'm about 90% ready to pull out of Oregon. I have family around who helped me when I needed it. My kids are happy to be going to a HOUSE of our own, and so am I. I know that there will be hard times ahead. I'm not niaeve. I know this trip is gonna be hard. BUT, I'm SO excited about being together with my hubby again, in our own house, with our own stuff, as our own little family. And attitude is what it's all about. Right now, I'm pumped (tired, but pumped - I'm going to bed early - hehehe).

Life is a Zoo

Oh My Heck! Today had better be an Uber productive day, because I sure didn't get a lot done yesterday. OK, so that's not true. I DID get a lot done yesterday, but not so much with the packing part.

I was at my friends house babysitting at 8 am ish. I DID get a new WordArt pack designed. That doesn't help me move, but it was sure fun :) It was a Words Active WordArt Pack, with 4 WordArts like the "Jump" WordArt. And, I included a layered PSD file (rasterized) so you could easily re-color the white and black parts.

I called the school, and learned that I had to come in and fill out some papers. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork! Geesh! But, I guess it's for a good reason.

Maren came over and hung out while I babysat. We had fun. She's a GREAT friend, and I really enjoy her - Thank, my friend, for coming and keeping me company!

So I was done babysitting at 2:45, and Maren took me to pick up my truck from the shop. And who knew that the shop didn't take Discover. What's up with that? That's the only credit card I have with room on it. geesh. Not shaping up to be a good time. Luckily, my mom was there to help me out again. I should just have the army deposit our travel money in her account - LMBO!

My truck runs FABULOUSLY!!!! I'm SO happy with it. Steve (the mechanic), checked the levels of everything, the tire pressure, changed the oil, and made it all ready for the trip. Thanks, Steve!!! You're the BEST!!!

So I finally get home at 3:40 ish (stopped by the school to fill out papers), and my dad wants to know where the key to the trailer is. See, there's a spot on the trailer where the trailer tongue attaches to the hitch of the truck. There's a ... um... latch that keeps it on there. And there's a spot for a lock. Well, we put a lock on it, and I had the key. HAD. I'm not to be trusted with things like that.... Captain America should know that - LMBO! I lose everything.

So I searched the truck, and found an extra set of keys, and a little key that I thought might be for the trailer lock. I went to the backyard to look at it, and noticed that my tags EXPIRED in December '08. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I'm leaving on MONDAY. It's a holiday, and the DMV isn't opened. I must admit, I started to panic a little bit.

I immediately went into the house, and called the DMV. Luckily, they closed at 5:00 pm. I had about an hour to work with. So, I told them my problem, that I was moving from Oregon to Texas, and I had expired Ohio plates. I asked what I should do. They said to bring the trailer in (great!), and pay for a trailer license, registration, and title fee, totalling $150. Oh My GOSH!!!

So I search for the keys for a little while longer, and realize, I don't have time to search any more. I ask my dad what I could do. Does he having anything to cut the lock with? No, he says. Just a hack saw, and it'll take a few hours to cut through it. Well, I know that I don't have a few hours, so I hop in the truck, and drive to the hardware store.

Give me BIG BOLT CUTTERS, I say. The guys was doubtuf that it would work, but I bought the BIGGEST bolt cutters they sold. I am now the proud (or not so proud) owner of $40 bolt cutters. So, if you EVER need a bolt, lock, or anything big and metal cut, just call me. I'd be happy to help!

I drove home, and parked by my trailer. I whipped out the bolt cutters, and with one easy motion, cut through the lock. No problems at all. I got the lock off, unblocked the wheels, backed up the truck and lined up the hitch/ball (yeah, MUCH easier said that done - I hate backing up - LOL), hooked up the trailer, chains, lights, etc. (good thing I paid attention all those times Captain America did it), and was off to the DMV, with 30 minutes before it closed.

I brought in the title, and asked to get a new registration and such. No, they said, because it was only in Captain Americas name. He needed to sign it. AHHHHHH! Now I really started to panic. But I tried not to show it. I asked what other options she had for me. I needed to get my trailer to El Paso without getting pulled over every 5 miles for not being registered.

Well, she said, why don't you just get a trip permit. Those are only $20.

And I'm only hearing about this option now WHY? She could have told me that on the phone. I didn't really want Oregon plates since I'm MOVING to Texas. Goodness. All we needed to get the trip permit was the VIN #, which was on the title, which I had. I didn't even need to bring up the trailer. But at that point, I was SO relieved, that I didn't even care.

Sometimes, I just wish that things would be easy. LMBO! But I guess that's what keeps life interesting. And sometimes my life is interesting. Well, entertaining for you all, at least. I wouldn't want to disappoint. What kind of a story would "I hooked up the trailer and loaded my junk" be. LMBO!!!

After dinner, and after the little kids went to bed, my mom and I worked on packing/filing all the paper junk that was mine. For any of you who have kids, you know the vast amount of paperwork that comes home. Well, times that by 4. And then add no space to keep it. There were piles of papers all over the house. And unfiled bills. And just stuff. So, we threw away 95% of the kids school work (it killed me, but I'm not packing around all that stuff), filed all the bills into the bill box, and packed up the random junk. I have about 5 boxes packed and ready to go. I also pack our DVD collection. I went through each one, just to make sure that they're in there. I have a 3 year old. 'nough said :) LOL!

Today, I need to get everything else packed, loaded in the truck, and tarped/shrink wrapped down. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, but I'll have lots of help. My dad, my mom, Maren, my Aunt Sue, and my Grandma Ida are all gonna help. Mostly, if the kids are entertained, I should be able to get a lot done. I"ll DEFINITELY get a pic of the final product. That should be funny - LOL. Remember what it looked like on the trip to Oregon? I bet it's higher this time.

Never Fail

Well, WE GOT THE HOUSE!!!! Woohoo! My mom loaned us the $$ until our Army check comes in, and we MoneyGram'ed the money. Have you ever done that? HOLY crap, it's expensive! 85 bucks to send $2000. The way it works, I fill out paperwork on my end, say who it's to, then they put the money into the Money Gram system. I give Captain America the conformation number, and he takes it to a Money Gram location, shows ID, gives them the number, and they give him the money. But do they REALLY have to charge so much - My Goodness!

Anyway, he picked up the money, and gave it to the Rental Company. $950 deposit, and first months rent. He's moving in TODAY!!! There's nothing in there (except what was in his car - LOL), no power, and no water, but he's IN OUR HOUSE!!! That'll all be taken care of before I get there with the kids, NEXT WEEK! That's right, we're leaving on MONDAY!!! So, I have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to pack and leave - no pressure, right!

And, I'm babysitting all day long today for one of the girls that babysat for me last week. When she asked me last Sunday, I didn't know I was leaving quite so soon. Oh well. She did it for me, so I'll do it for her. That just means that I need to pack EXTRA good on Saturday :)

And, my truck should be ready today too. The fuel pump was shot. It's gonna be about $245 for all the repairs. New fuel pump, the distributer cap (or something like that) and um, yeah, not really remembering what he was fixing. Anyway, he's fixing what was broke, and not charging me a whole lot for it. It's my moms good friends' hubby. He's such a great guy!

Can you imagine if it would have all gone south on the trip? Me, with my 5 kids, on a 1/2 cross country, all by myself, with a broken truck. Not good :) I'm glad that it broke when it did, so I had time to fix it :)

I did some packing yesterday. I packed all the kids clothes, except 5 changes. I'll put them in suit cases when it gets closer to go time (yeah, like 3 days from now -LMBO), but the others will need to go in the trailer. What else did I do? Oh yeah, I helped a lady at church finish off her family calendar. We did the 1st 1/2 on Monday, and the 2nd half Thursday. My mom, my aunt, our friend Luell, and Jimmy and I went to lunch at McDonalds. It was nice and warm in the playplace, and I was SO glad. First time I've been warm all day long :)

Since I packed so long today, and I'm usually the food cooker, we got Taco Bell for dinner. Beans are good! Then, after the little kids went to bed, we got Apple Fritters from Safeway bakery. Yeah, I'm gonna be ROUND by the time I get to Texas - LMBO! It'll feel really good to get back on track with my diet. One of these day....

Well, good news about the house! We were approved, but we need to pay the deposit today to get it - holy cow! We'll get a TON of money from the move, but none of it is to us yet. So, we're scrambling on how to get some money to the housing place so we can get the rental. Hopefully it all works out :)

And, sad news, our truck is having "issues". I love my Surburban. It's a 1990 GMC. I don't want a new fancy car. I don't want a mini van. I LOVE my truck. It's like my friend. But, sadly, it's been making funny noises when it idols, and hasn't been running well at all. Yeah, real nice, what with the move right around the corner. So, it's in the shop today. I SO hope that it's something easy/cheap to fix.

Yesterday, some of the girls and I took our little kids to our church parking lot to let them ride their little bikes. The kids had a BLAST! The oldest kid there was 7. There were probably 15 kids there, with bikes, or trikes, or something. It was SO cute. Too bad my camera was at home - sigh. Besides the fact that the sun had gone behind the trees and the wind was COLD, it was a perfect afternoon!

I made THE best hamburgers last night - they were DIVINE!!! Ground beef, tons of onion, worstershire sauce, garlic salt, pepper, parmesean cheese, pepper jack cheese, eggs (to hold it together), and some Montreal Steak Seasoning on the top. OMGosh! I think it may have been my first burger since doing my diet. It was AMAZING. I'm SO doing my diet today, though. I was one of those "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" moments - hehehehe.

Color Me Happy

Captain America told me that he checked into his .. um..I dont' know what it's called. His unit? His brigade? I dont know. There's not really anything for him to do there. He training doesn't start until April. Anyway, his assignment today was to sweep the floor and wash a few windows, and that job was shared by him and 2 others. It took about 10 minutes, then they had the day off. If this is what his routine is for the next 3 months, and I can be there with him, I'm ALL ABOUT THAT!!!

Well, Captain America went rental house hunting today. He looked at one that was almost 2000 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, 2 stories, 2 car garage, central air, in a nice neighborhood, new school, close-ish to post, a year old, and $1050 a month. Not bad for the area. We've never rented something that expensive before, but then, the last place we rented was a 2 bedroom 4-plex. Can't really fit 7 people in a 2 bedroom 4-plex, I guess. There doing an application thingy, so we're waiting to see if we pass. I'm not sure we will. Our credit is in the tank, and our house in Chicago is going into forclosure. That CANT look good on a credit report. So keep us in your prayers. I'd really like to have a house in Texas. If this avenue doesn't work, we'll just have to try and rent from an individual, not a company. But hopefully this will work out for us :)


So how many of you watched Idol last night? Usually, I'm not big on Idol, but my family watches it, so I decided to give it a try. I think it's fun when watched in a group. Listening to my Dad laught was half the fun :) hehehe. But I must say, as I sat there and watched it, with my mom and my 2 oldest boys, and a guy called "Sexual Chocolate" auditioned, I wondered what I was getting into. Tom, the 9 year old, said "Sexual Chocolate"? "Grandma, what does Sexual mean?". LMBO! Not a converstaion I wanted to get into with my 9 year old at this point. We told him it mean that the guy was cute, and people wanted to kiss on him. Gross, he said. And he was just mortified at the bikini girl. When I tucked him into bed, he was like "I still can't believe someone came on the show in their bikini - gross!". Good for you Tom!

Woohoo! I finally got the video of Captain America graduating uploaded. I'm slow, but I'll eventually get to it :) Just like your Christmas Card WordArt packs. I haven't forgotten about you. I"ll do it. Maybe even today. Maybe :) LMBO!

I got a chance to do some Scrapbooking today. Not my own, but it was still some layouts. There's a lady at church, Bess, who makes a calendar each year for her extended family. Her daughter (and family) has just recently moved away (I went to high school with her) and that's who usually helped her do it. So, I said that I would help. We were able to get 6 of the 12 layouts done for the Calendar yesterday. It was pretty fun scrapping, but I must say, I'm SO glad that I have a CT, because if my layouts were trying to sell my products, I wouldn't make a single sale - LMBO!

Then, I went to the Auto store to buy a part for my truck. Did I tell you it was having "issues". It was revving up really bad then trying to die. One after another. Weirdest thing. It started the day or so before Captain America left from Christmas Exodus. It drove like that too. Just what I needed. A broken Surburban, and no hubby to help.

Well, my dad said that it sounded like the fuel filter was bad. SO, I bought a new one today. It was only $4.99. He took out the old one, and put in the new one last night. I'm hoping that it fixed the problem. He drove it around a little bit, and he said that it seemed to improve the more he drove it - he said it needed to work its way through the fuel line. Whatever. As long as it works. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. It drive it around a little bit.

After the Auto parts store, I went to my Grandmas house. Hung out there till the kids were about due home, then went back to my Moms. Tom had Cub Scouts at 4:30, and I had my 5:00 Monday appointment. Picked Tom up at 6 ish after my meeting, and went home. Little kids went to bed at 7:30 ish, big kids, well, I got to talking with Captain America on the phone, and realized at 9:45 that I didn't put them to bed - oops. They got to stay up late - LOL!

Captain America said that he has a meeting today about the move. Not sure what aspect of the move it is, but it's something to do with transportation. I've come to see that the army doesn't like you to know too many steps ahead of where you are right now. Need to know basis. And I guess we don't need to know yet. Ok. I can do that. I'm a "go with the flow" person, or I can be. hehehe.

You know, I'm LOVIN' having Captain America in MST. He's only an hour ahead of us now, and it sure makes talking in the evening much more handy. The 3 hour time different was brutal. This is much more do-able.

I just thought that this saying was HILARIOUS, so I decided to WordArt it . I could see it being used for ANY page of ANYONE who had aged. Even if it was a little kid growing up. I'm Too Sexy

I started off SOOO good on my diet on Sunday. But then at around 3pm, I gave up, and ate, literally, everything in site. Sigh. Not a good finish - hehehe. I'll do better today. Really, I will. My belly feels bloated, and nasty (Sunday night). I hate it when I eat things that I shouldn't. I really don't feel good afterwords. You'd think I'd learn :) But, after a PERFECT eating day on Saturday, I was down 2 lbs, so I know that it will come off when I get back on the diet. I CAN do it. I WILL do it. Today is the day, right???

Oh yeah! Captain America made it to El Paso. He called last night, and said that he'd arrived. He was looking for the temporary housing place last time we talked. But he was on base. He'd arrived safely. That's a long drive. Poor guy. It would have been better if I could have driven with him. Woudln't that have been a fun roadtrip :)

Have you guys seen "Bedtime Stories"? I'm definitely buying that one when it comes to video - SO cute! I like Adam Sandler when he's not swearing or being crude. He's a funny guy :) Good movie :)

God Keep You

So, since Saturday was my first day back home, I decided to jump on the ole scales, and see how much damage Christmas and vacation took on me. Yeah, it wasn't a pretty picture. 12 lbs up. That's like a WHOLE Thanksgiving turkey. Anyway, so I'm BACK on the ole diet. I know that it works. One just needs to actually DO it - hehehe. So, here's the pic of me in my new workout shirt/pants, all ready to lose 12 lbs. Woohoo for me! I only have one pair of pants that still fit. Yeah, that's not good - hehehe.


I really did good on my diet yesterday. I drank water (yeah, I need to drink more, but I actually attempted it), I ate only what was on the diet plan, and I walked at the beach for 30 minutes. My kids and I went there with Maren, her hubby, and her boy. We all had a lot of fun. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow.

Well, it was a good day back at "home". The kids were really excited to see me, and I was SO excited to see them. Captain America texted me throughout the day, giving me updates as to his progress. As of Saturday night, he's in Abilene, Texas. It's another 450 ish miles into El Paso. He should get in tomorrow sometime. "Find us a house, honey! We're ready to come to Texas, too!!!"

Congratulations

OK, another really quick post. I'm making this freebee for you at 1:45 am EST on Thursday night, and the silly internet at the hotel is SNAIL speed. Goodness. I'd planned on putting on pictures, but they're not uploading, so you'll have to wait till I get back to Oregon (sorry mom!). They actually turned out fairly well, despite camera issues.

Ha! I came back and tried again, and actually got a few to post. I do have video of him graduating, and of him taking his oath, but that will have to be a project for another day :) Here's a picture of him, after graduation, infront of the Officer Candidates School arch. Isn't he cute!

And here I am, pinning the bar on his uniform. After they're commissioned, and graduated, they have someone pin their 1st Lt bar on their uniform. Originally, his dad was gonna do one shoulder and I was gonna do the other shoulder, but since his parents coudln't make it, I got to do both shoulders. We had a friend take a few pics of us pinning on the rank.
Graduation went AWESOME, and my hubby is now a commissioned officer in the United States Army. He's a new 2nd Lieutenant, low man on the totem pole in Officer land, but IN officer land, none the less - hehehe. I think they decided that they now outranked 74% of all soldiers in the army. Hehehehe.

OK, girls, quick post today! We're getting up at 4:50 am to be ready to leave the room at 5:15 am to be on post at 5:50 am for a 6:00 am jog. Yeah, am I ready for this? Um, Captain America bought me a new jogging outfit yesterday, so I guess I am - LMBO!!! It's really cute :) Black and purple. hehehe. There's 160 ish guys in his company, and a lot of them bringing family/friends, and we're all jogging a mile together. Should be pretty impressive. AND, he assured me that they were going slow. OK, is slow to an army stud the same as slow to poor ole me, who took Thanksgiving to Christmas off of exercise and diet? I'm hope I don't die - LOL!

My sweetheart graduates today, and is a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army. Hooah! Ft. Bliss, here we come :) LOL! Be sure to leave him a nice congrats, and I'll pass it along - he reallly did a GREAT job, and I'm SO proud of all of his hard work and sacrifice. Way to go, babe!!!

Are You Talking to Me?

So, I made it go Georgia!!! My flight left from the Eugene Airpot at 2:35, so I just had time to get Joe on the bus at 11:33, drop Jimmy off at the babysitters, and have my Aunt and Uncle drive me over. About 15 minutes before the bus got there, I thought I lost my wallet, but found it at the last minute. That's the last thing I needed - hehehe. But, I found it, so it was all good.

I chatted with a really nice guy who was an officer in the Air Force before our flight left, and designed all the way to Denver. I made some Birthday Ages wordart packs. They're pretty cool, actually - LMBO!

I was able to get my bag (they put my carry on under the plane because it was full) back, grab a sandwhich at the deli, and board the next flight to Birmingham. Yeah, I ususally don't like to cut it that close, but it worked out this time :)

I landed in Birmingham 10:15pm CST, and was on the road in my rental car by 11:00pm CST. It was only 9pm my time, so I did ok. It was raining, and dark, but I managed to make it the almost 3 hours to Columbus Georgia, AND find my hotel. Any of you who know me will agree, that's quite a feat - LOL! I only got turned around 3 times, and was able to quickly course correct. That's always a good thing.

I got to my hotel room at about 3 am, and my hubby, who had already checked in for the night, was just getting up and getting ready to head to base. CRAZY! Who gets up that early. Soldiers, I guess - LOL! They had a drug test. I guess those are important too - hehehe. I went to sleep, and he was back at 4:30 am, slept till 7:00 am, and was gone again by 8:00 am. Well, I slept in till 11:15 am (but only 8:15 my time). Boy was that nice.

He came back to the hotel at about noon, and we got ready and went to lunch at Red Lobster. That's fancy for us - LOL! I had Shrimp Salad, and Clam Chowder in a Sourdough Bread Bowl. We also had some Coconut Shrimp appetizers, and an Apple pie / ice cream thingy for dessert. TO DIE FOR!!! I love food - LOL!

Then, we headed to Staple to fax our ORDERS to the housing department. OH YEAH!!! I almost forgot to tell you that we got our ORDERS!!! We're definitely going to Fort Bliss, Texas!!! We'll be there all through BOLC II and BOLC III, and stationed there after that too. Usually newly commissioned 2nd LTS stay at their first Permanant Duty Station (PDS) for 36 months, until they make captain, or so I've been told. So that's 3 years in El Paso! Woohoo!!! I'm SO excited.

We HAD to stop at Wal-Mart (hehehe), because my deoderant broke, I was out of contact solution, and I didn't bring my body wash. All important things - hehehe. I got a new sleeveless jacket thingy too. It's pretty cute. White, puffy, and a furry hood. OK, it sounds kinda funny, but trust me, it's NEAT!

After Wal-Mart, we headed over to Trader Joes. It's a store that all the Military guys buy their uniforms, and such at. Or something like that. My man really knows how to show a girl a good time - hehehe. He dropped off a shirt to be dry cleaned, and we looked around for a while.

We headed back to the hotel, and quickly got ready for the dance. It started between 5:00pm and 5:30pm. The place was pretty nice, but the building next door (HUGE brick building!!!), had just recently burned down (2 months ago), so it kinda had a "bombed out" feel to the place. I was like "WHERE are you taking me?" when we pulled up - hehehe.

Wow! The ball was FANTASTIC!!! Everything I hoped it would be :) We really did have a fantastic time :) I met all of Captain Americas friends (yeah, so many that I only remember like 3 people - LOL), we had a GREAT speaker, had FANTASTIC food (gotta love salmon!), and STRAWBERRY shortcake (YUMMY!), and I even got a slow dance. All in all, it was a PERFECT night :)

This is Captain America's roommate and his wife. They were AWESOME! I could have easily been her friend. They have 3 kids, and have been married about as long as we have, if not longer. They are getting stationed at Germany. Lucky! LOL!

Look at how fancy the tables were (yeah, it doesn't take much to impress me - LOL!) We got to keep the fancy silver flosted glasses. They said their class, and something else on them. Kinda like the glasses you get to keep at prom.

And YUMMY Strawberry Shortcake. It was so moist and GOOD! Dang good :) LOL! yes, I know, pathetic. Fancy dance, and I'm taking pictures of food - hehehe. Keeping it real :)

Tomorrow, there's some kind of meeting from 9-12 on post for the families. It had some kind of Acronym, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is, and Captain America's already asleep. But, they're gonna tell us all about being a military family, and stuff like that. He's gotta be on post at 8:45 anyway, so he'll just drop me off, then afterwords, we'll eat lunch there, and go to the PX. I just LOVE the PX. Ha! I want to find some little Army souviners for my friends who are watching my kids.

It's WordArt Wednesday again, and if you look carefully at Scraporchard, you'll see that last week (or maybe it was 2 weeks ago, can't remember), we used my 12 Days of Christmas as Word Art Wednesday Week 26 or something like that. Well, this week is Week 26. OK. Ha! Just go with it :) LOL!

So it's Tuesday. I'm prepublishing, because it's only Sunday for me - LOL! But, I should be in Georgia, with my sweetheart again! We're going to the BALL TODAY!!! Can you tell I'm just slightly excited! Once you get married, have kids, and get old (LOL!), you no longer get to dress up in fancy clothes and go to parties. Well, NOT ANYMORE!!! I'm so excited for my first Army Ball. I'll let you know if it was everything I was hoping for :) hehehe.

God Qualifies

Well, I spent a little while last night packing. I printed out my flight/rental car/hotel information, as well as mapquest maps to and FROM my hotel to the airport. Hehehe, I don't reverse the route too well my myself - ha! And Mapquest does it SO well, I might as well let them - hehehe.

I leave tomorrow at 2:30, so if anyone wants to see me off, I'll be there - LMBO! My Aunt or Uncle are gonna drive me over, and I found friends to watch my kids the 5 days I'll be gone. My mom will get the 3 big kids ready for school, and drive them there as usual. They leave around 8am. Then, my Grandma and/or Aunt Sue will come over and take the 2 little kids to my friends' house. Joe will catch the bus at 11:30, and Jim will stay and play. The school aged kids get back to my Moms at 4, which is also when she gets off work. My friends will just drive Jimmy back home, homework, dinner, and bed. And repeat the next day - LOL!

So, thanks to Ann, Maryann, April, Erin, and Rebecca for watching my kiddos for me! Don't know what I'd do without friends like you guys! You ROCK!!!!

AND, on a side note, for all of you who sent me Christmas Cards, be patient with me :) I'm not lugging all of my Christmas Cards with me to Georgia, so I'll have to get to that project when I get back - hehehe. Just be patient with me, and know that I didn't forget about ya!

To Grandmother's House

So we took Captain America to the airport yesterday. While I knew that I would see him in only a few days, I still kinda felt like someone was taking a piece of my heart away. I'll miss him dearly, and can't wait to see him again on Tuesday. Hurry honey, and get done with trainings :) This new army wife is growing impatient (LOL!).

Awe, aren't these pictures just....sad! Poor kids. They were really sad to see their dad go. They AREN'T gonna see him on Tuesday, so they were pretty sad about it.

And I just love this one of Tom and Captain America. So sad!

So after Captain America left on his flight (2:35pm from Eugene), my kids and I, and my parents and my neice, headed to Wal-Mart. My mom got her hair cut (my Christmas present to her), and we shopped. I decided that I needed a new suit case for my trip. Mine was small, and I just need more clothes than I can fit in it - LMBO!! They're big, and red, and COOL! It was a 6 piece set for $44. Gotta love Wal-Mart. I also got some storage bins for my kids new Christmas toys. AND, I got a whole bag of M&Ms. Yeah, that's on the diet. I drownded my saddness in chocolate. I'll chocolate de-tox today. Yesterday was the last day of chocolate for a while.

Speaking of eating the WHOLE bag of chocolate.... I bought a new dress for the dance. I've gained about 8-10 lbs over the holidays, and my formal dress is a bit snug (well, it won't zip - LMBO!). So, I bought a new one - hehehe. I decided my choices were - not eat for 4 days; or buy a different one from the thrift store. Yeah, I bought a new one - hehehehe. It's REALLY pretty. It's a reddish color, and has black velvet trim on the top. I'll take pics later and show you all. I'm gonna take them both with me, just in case I shed a few lbs before Tuesday (hehehe), and can fit back into it. But, I think that at the end of the 3rd Officer training we have another ball. So I'll use it then. Ha!

After Wal-Mart, we headed to the Mall. I had a $25 gift card to "The Gap". I decided that I'm not a Mall person. I found a sweater at the Gap, and with my gift card, it was only $1.99. Who pays that much for clothes? Holy cow! Sticker shock! I'm DEFINITELY as Wal-Mart/Thrift Store girl. While those clothes were really nice looking, I coudln't see paying that much for clothes. Wow!

After the Mall, we went to dinner at Chilis. Yeah, I LOVE Chilis. I got the Quesadillia Explosion. YUMMY! Heheheh, yeah, this is the reason that I had to get a new dress - LOL! After Chilis, we headed for a McDonalds nearby, to let the kids play in the 3 story playland. We got a soda, so we were technically "customers', and let the kids play.

All in all, it was a good day. I sent part of my heart away to Georgia again, but I'm looking forward to getting it back on Tuesday. Sigh. Such is life for an army wife. What's the saying? They also serve who sit and wait. Something like that.

Pre-publishing again :) It's Friday day, and I've snuck out to do some work. I really need to get back to the "FOB", though - LOL! But, I got Fridays and Saturdays done. Captain America is leaving tomorrow (or today, for you guys). I'm gonna miss him, but I'll see him on Tuesday, so it's not really like goodbye, now is it. And then, hopefully we'll be back together in February. If the guys in charge of orders ever gets his act together. We should have had orders before Christmas Exodus. Oh well. Hopefully we'll get them on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed for us :)

Captain America leaves tomorrow. Wow did vacation go fast! The people who's house we were staying at are coming home today, so we're back out at the cabins again. The kids were really excited that it was the same cabin from last week. Funny, how something so small makes them so happy. LOL! I snuck into town to grab some wi-fi, and the kids are playing video games with there dad. One more day - we get to go on a date tonight! I'm excited! My friend, Ann, is watching the kids for us. I SO love my ward, and the new friends that I've made here. You guys are the BEST!!!

Happy New Year!

Well, our temple trip was WONDERFUL! We did end up getting to go. Thank goodness :) Maren and Chet watched the kids on Monday night, and we drove up to Woodburn (about 20 minutes from the temple). We got a hotel room, and met my parents at the temple on Tuesday at noon. We went to lunch at Applebees first, then did a session.

We even got to do some sealings. I'd never done those before, so that was AWESOME. For those of you not familiar with the temple, we believe that a husband and wife can be sealed together (married) for time and all eternity in the temple. And it's not really fair for those people who died and never got a chance to be sealed in the temple, so we can do their temple work for them (proxy). That's why doing our genealogy is so important. Then, those individuals who have passed on can choose wether they want to accept the sealing or not. Fair for everyone. Everyone gets the same chance. Same with baptism.

Anyway, we helped with a few proxy temple sealings. It really was nice. It reminded me of renewing our vows. A chance to hear again the promises we made when we were married back in 1996. I'm so glad that Captain America is my husband, and I love him dearly. What a great man I have. Even with all of his short comings, I'll keep him (LOL!)!!!! Here's a few pics from our trip.

And, we stopped at Cold Stone Creamery on the way home. OH.MY.GOSH! I got something SUPER chocolately. Can't remember the name, but it was AMAZING. It had chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, fudge, brownines, and chocolate chips. Wow. I was LOVIN' it! Hehehehe. (Chocolate Devotion, my mom just remembered :)

So tonight (pre-publishing), we're gonna go to the neighbors house (the Mitchells - I preschool with April) for New Year's Eve games. It'll be fun! After the kids go to bed, so it will be even more fun :) I'm at my mom's briefly to publish this post, and pick up a movie. They bought Eagle Eye, and Captain America and I are gonna watch it before we go over to the Mitchells house. Well, if I get off the computer and get back to the FOB (LOL!). So, gotta run, girls.
