Special As You

Hola, peeps! How was your Wednesday? Mine, you ask? Splendid - hehe :)

I woke up late, since my phone died in the middle of the night. Oops. At least it was just the battery. Actually, I woke up at 4:30am, when Captain America had a question he needed answered before he went to work. Something about banks and routing numbers. They're getting ready to deploy, and today was a bunch of paperwork and medical stuff. So he'd gotten a text saying to bring the bank info, and since I do the bills, he had to ask.

He was all apologetic, which was sweet, and told me to go back to bed. Which I did - hehe :)

I got up in time to ready scriptures, say prayers, get kids dressed and fed and on the bus. And then I sat on the couch with Jimmy for a while. I brought out my computer, and worked on a project that I'd forgotten about. Oops :) There's a "12 Ways of Christmas" blog that I was asked to participate in over the 12 days of Christmas, that talk about 12 different ways we can come closer to Christ over the holiday. And I volunteered to make WordArts for each of the 12 ways.

WAY back in October. And I remember thinking that I needed to do it before I forgot about it. Oops. Well, I got an email about it today, and sat down, and designed all 12. They turned out pretty good. You can see the blog HERE. I designed the WordArt for the header too :)

And then it was time to try on my Formals :) BUT, I couldn't do that without first getting my hair and make up all pretty. That's just how it needs to be done, you know - ha!

So I showered, and took a long time putting on a lot of make up (needed to cover the zits I picked, you know...) and curly hair, pulled up. It looked pretty good. And I tried on my 3 dresses. I think I'm gonna go with the teal/blue one. Not that I don't like the black one better, but I'm trying to branch out, and not just wear black all the time - hehe. Prove to myself that I can do color too :)

I had Jake take pictures of me in all 3 dresses that I tried on. This on cost $0.99, and the cover was $3.99.

This one was $0.99 too, and the cover was $4.99.
And the teal/blue one was $0.99, and the cover is the same white one from above. I just LOVE savers :)
I got these HUGE silver/pearl earring last night at Jewelry box, and I also got some teal ones that are BIG too. I'm not sure which I like better... I think the colored ones.

This dress doesn't quite cover enough of my back. I'd have to wear a shirt or something under it to keep myself modest. And the zipper has issues. If I chose to wear it, I could totally rig something, but I'm leaning towards the blue.
I love these purple earrings - hehe
And by the time I was done playing with all my clothes and jewelry, it was 10:50am, and I had to hurry and change clothes to my yoga clothes, and get Jim to the bus. We made it! And I was SO fancy - hehe. Fancy hair and make up for yoga - LOL!

Kari picked me up at the bus stop after Jim got on the bus, and we drove on over to Stout Gym. It was a VERY good class. My back got stretched real good, and I really liked it :)

We headed back home, and I got there JUST as Captain America had left from lunch. Hmpf! Not cool :) I ate lunch with Jake, and we watched an episode of Fringe.

I designed a WordArt pack, and then headed out to the store. I was gone to Family Dollar for an hour, and made it back in time to get Jim off of the bus.

I found this recipe on the back of a bag of Recese Peanut Butter Cups. They look REALLY yummy. So I got some of the peanut butter cups, and some Hersheys Kisses, and some peppermint patties, and a few decorations, and have plans to make teacher goodies (cookies) and ornaments for the kids teachers next week. I'm excited!

And then I headed to the bus stop. And yeah, I'd forgotten my Sunglasses, and it was SO bright! ha! It's hard to remember it's winter sometimes....
I got Jim from the bus, and headed back home. And I worked for a while cleaning my room. I had ALL the clothes of mine from our weekend trip, AND 2 loads of my laundry, AND all the new savers clothes to put away. Sigh. That was a HUGE mess.

I got it sorted, and Joe got home from school, then Eme and Tom. I took a break, and made brownies. I cut up the peppermint patties and put them in the batter, and spooned it into mini muffin tins. Yeah, it didn't work out so well. I wonder if it would have been better in a pan?

Not that we didn't eat it - ha! I scraped them out, formed them into a ball, and it was good to go. Nice and minty, and a little crunchy. We're not picky in our house :) But I wouldn't let the kids eat the brownie until their chores were done. There's one way to get them to do their chores :)

Captain America came home around 5pm, and he and I cooked dinner for ourselves, and I made a taco casserole of sorts for the kids. We watched an episode of Doctor Who, and hung out.

Then Captain America got showered and ready for our interviews that evening (we had to have the kids skip their scout meetings, cause really, we can't be in 2 places at once - hehe), and I got the kids all situated. Eme and Joe had finished their homework, and the kids decided who was gonna play on computer. And at around 6:45pm, Captain America and I headed across town to the Stake Center to try and get a Stake Temple recommend interview. We'd tried calling and setting one up, but couldn't get ahold of anyone. So we figured we'd just go on Wednesday night (church activity night) and hope to catch someone there.

Jake was left with directions to put the kids to bed at 7:30pm, and then for him and Eme and Tom to read quietly in their rooms. I LOVE having a 13 yr old at home, did I mention that before?

Captain America and I headed out in the Saturn on our "date". We drove the 30-ish minutes across town and found the Stake Center. And found someone to show us where the Stake offices were, and luckily, the Stake President was there. Woohoo! There was a missionary just getting home, and he and his parents were there meeting with him.

We slid in next, and got our recommend interviews. They're good for 2 years. Captain America's was set to expire at the end of the month, but with him deploying the first of the year, better safe than sorry, so he renewed it.

I worked on my blog while Captain America was in, and got a bit of it done. Multitasking is great, you know :) And then we were both done, and headed over to the Outlet Malls, since we were on that end of town anyway. The were open for another hour, so we decided to walk around.Check out this HUGE Christmas tree we found! I LOVED it, and just HAD to get some pictures in front of it!

And these balls? Yeah, I couldn't resist!
First stop was Jewelry Box. I found a few things. Some lip gloss and a hair thing and a scarf and some eyeshadow. They didn't really have any jewelry this time that interested me that much. Sometimes the WHOLE store is filled with things I want, and other time, eh, not so much.

Next stop was New Balance outlet. Captain America's favorite :) He needs new running shoes, but wasn't trying them on tonight. Just browsing.
We went to Old Navy, but yeah, even their clearance is WAY too overpriced for me. $8 for a shirt? I think not! hehe.

We stopped and went in a kitchen accessory store too, and I found some Mini Muffin papers to go with that cookie recipe from above. Should be SO tasty :) We had fun looking around in there. I like cooking accessories!

And then Captain America was almost falling asleep (he'd gotten up at 4am three days in a row...), and the stores were closing since it was just after 9pm, and we headed home. But not before stopping at Howdy's for a drink. I drove, since he was so sleepy.

And this Howdy's had a McDonalds inside too. So we went to get a Fruit and Yogurt Parfait, but they were all out. Grrr. So we decided to get a Fruit and Walnut salad. Yeah, out of that too. Whaaaat? So we got the apples from the kids meals. Nasty little things. But they had 360% of my daily serving of Vitamin C. Maybe that's why they tasted nasty..... Just a thought.

We sat in the McDonalds dining room, and ate our apples, drank our soda, and just chatted. It was very nice. And I, of course, snapped pictures :)

And when our sodas were done, we headed home. Captain America fell asleep, and I cranked the Christmas Station and sang LOUD the whole way home, with a BIG smile on my face. I just LOVE the Christmas Music Station. It makes me happy :) Big smiles!

It's now 11:01pm, and I'm sleepy . I'm SO glad I designed earlier. hehe. Cause I don't think I have it in me to do it now :) ha!

Here's a SUPER cool layout by Sharon. Have I mentioned lately how much she ROCKS???

If you want to try the brownies again, use a pan. Put 1/2 the brownie batter in the bottom, a layer of the pepermint patties, and the other 1/2 of the batter on top. It turns out really good, and there's not too much that's better than chocolate and mint!

Thanks for the great word art. I liked the teal dress! You have an awesome Savers! Wish we had one!

I like the teal dress best too (not that it matters what I think - lol!) My son is in the Navy and my dear DIL loves the thrift stores too - she finds the best deals on barely used clothing. I will have to tell her about your $.99 formals!
Thanks for today's word art!
