Remembrance

Well, I'd like to report that I felt great today, and that it was a marvelous day. But I don't. So I won't. I was still sick when I woke up. Nasty. But the sore throat was gone. And in its place was a HORRENDOUS head cold... I felt like someone put a plastic bag over my head and started hitting it. Sigh.

Jake's autism test was at 9am, so he got to sleep in. And I did a little bit, too. We got up at 8am, threw on some clothes, had breakfast, and took Jim to Laurie's house at 8:30am. Then headed over to the test. Luckily, it was VERY close to post.

And were there for the REST of the morning. And it took FOREVER! I filled out TONS of paperwork. Different Autism and Asperbergs screening forms. And after about an hour of filling out forms, the psychologist took Jake back for about a 30 minutes interview. And I waited. Then we both waited for another 30 minutes, and it was my turn. And it lasted for about 45 minutes. LONG meeting.

The longer it went on, the more sick I started to feel...
At 1:15pm, we were FINALLY done. And the dude didn't sound too hopeful that we'd get an IEP. He said that Jake was boarderline Autistic. That mostly, he was just Socially Awkward. And that there wasn't anything to be done for that. Nice.

He said that we should have a decision by the end of the month, though. Well, that's good, at least. I don't know what more I can do. If the school deems him "non autistic", there's nothing more I can do..... Crap....

We swung by Burger King and got a Wopper Jr and Fries and Drink, then I took him up to school. And I had about an hour before I had to get Jim from the bus. And yeah, I totally slept for that hour.

I got Jim from the bus at 2:30pm, and attempted to nap for about 30 minutes. But yeah, it wasn't happening. I just kept thinking about all the things I had to do for the rest of the day. The most pressing was to prepare for the Achievement day activity that night. I had supplies to buy. So Jim and I loaded up in the truck and headed off post to Walmart.

And I got the papers and hole punches and pipe cleaners and a few other things that I needed. And I told him that he could have a car. So I we went and picked one out, but didn't have much time. Half way to the front of the store, he changed his mind, and wanted a different car. But we didn't have time to go back. So I said he could have the car in his hand, or no car. And he completely lost it.

I think he's not feeling well. Like me. Because he usually doesn't have a melt down of this magnitude. It was quite spectacular, let me tell you. People from 4-5 isles away could hear his waiting and antics... Finally, I just took the car away from him all together, which he wasn't so happy about either. Kids. They're SO much fun...

We paid, loaded up in the truck, and headed home. And he informed me that I was a really really really really really really really really really really really mean mom. Nice...

Yeah, he totally fell asleep before we got home. And ended up napping in the truck for about an hour in the driveway. Don't wake a sleeping 5 year old. It doesn't end well....

I came inside, worked on my craft project for a few minutes, and told the kids to find what they could for dinner. And I laid down for a little bit, taking some non-drowsy meds. And yeah, I still felt like crap...

At 5:10pm, I mustered what little energy I had, loaded the kids up in the truck, and drove across post to baseball practice. I dropped Tom off at George Moore fields first, then went to Logan for Joe's baseball practice. Jake and Eme and Jim and I hung out while Joe practiced. I napped in my chair (yeah, that was real high class looking), and worked on my craft project for a little bit...

Then it was time to go. We drove back to Tom's field, picked him up, and went to church. We were there about 15 minutes early. Which gave us time to set up. We pulled in some extra little tables, and the girls helped to get everything laid out and organized.

It was a SUPER laid back meeting. Probably because I was all drugged up. hehe. We made the flowers for mothers day, and had prayer, and ate cupcakes. Super low key... But I think the girls liked it.

At 8pm, I gathered up the kids and headed for the truck. It was around 8:15pm before we had everyone, and we headed out. And I barely made it home. I was SO sleepy and out of it. Maybe I shouldn't have gone... Oh well...

We got home, and Jake and Tom helped me out BIG time. They helped the kids get ready for bed, and get a snack, and finished up homework. And made me some herbal tea. I retreated to my room, and blogged. And took some Niquil. I know there's not much time left before the meds kick in. hehe. It's now 9:06pm. And I'm SO ready for bed. I can feel a headache trying to emerge. And the head cold is totally kicking my butt...

I have WAY to much to do this week to be sick. It's SO cramping my social calendar... At least I can still joke, right?

I love it Sharon!!!
